Comment:
More than any other course I have taken, Dr Babul taught us PHYSICS. Not math or integrals, but how to conceptualize problems and describe the physics taking place. His midterm truly tested whether we understood the material, as opposed to whether we could apply a set of equations to a familiar problem. It was not easy, but it tested my understandi

His lectures were interesting, but had nothing to do with the assignments, and didn't really follow the textbook. Studying from his notes for the final was a complete waste of time. Mid Term was very very touch, final was fairly difficult (although apparently if you had friends from the 2013 semester, studying their practice final helped a lot)

This guy doesn't care about his class, he was completely disjoint from the entire course. The assignment questions were assigned from the textbook, but his lectures only vaguely corresponded to the text. For the 2013 exam, he stole the 2012 exam verbatim, which was written by a different prof. No respect.

Impossible to know what to expect on any exam. It was his first time teaching this course, and he did scale the tests massively, but still terrifying.

He was a delight to learn from. Mr. Babul provided much guidance and even more hotness. I think that if you plan on paying attention you should rethink taking this class because his ravishing good looks will become a distraction to both male and female counterparts. If you enjoy learning about the sky, Mr. Babul will provide the pics.

Dr Babul loves his subject matter and it is evident in the amount of information he wishes his students to learn. That being said, the course was a lot more than I bargained for as far as work but it was very enjoyable in the long run. He was also quite willing to help me outside of class hours to aid me with the essay project.

He is a good prof and knowledgable about the material. However, he has two mandatory textbooks and a few other advised textbooks, as well as many online readings, so the material is a bit overwhelming if you try to keep up. Teaching style is straight-forward but lacking.

This class was fascinating! It was definitely difficult, but I am not a science student, I took it for fun - that said, I put in the work and I got an A. I can only assume that some of the really bad reviews here are from students who just didn't want to put in the time. Still goes down as my favourite and most memorable class at UVIC. Well done!

Highly intelligent prof. His physics 303 course is so fascinating and I learned more in the class than I have in many others. Problems sets were time consuming but useful to learn the information and for studying. Tests required understanding of concepts rather than memorizing random facts. Best way to teach that type of course. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

hmmm in one word "arrogant". He doesn't want to teach--just wants to do research which is totally understandable, but he could at least TRY to teach us something.

He is very unclear, having three different books to read can be very confusing. Answring the problem sets took a lot of time and effort since there's 3 books and his online notes. Didn't hand out a course outline!? The material can be interesting for a science student

Lectures were SO boring, just read off his overheads or talking about something not even in the course. Midterm was so hard he had to scale it hugely. Got the impression that he's conceited. Assignments were pretty much every question at the end of the chapters!

Very unclear, easily distracted, 30% of mark goes to class participation! If you're non-science major your head will spin as science students ask questions. We watched videos 2/3 of the time, saw one on TV the other night - what a waste of time.

Good prof, not bad lectures, mostly off of overhead slides. Gave copies of this, which is nice, but had very little description/words, lots of formula. Assignments were pretty long, but there were only 3. Tests were fair.

Really unclear on what he wanted for assignments. Questions on the problem set were hard to understand. RARELY actually did any lecturing, at least half of the classes and the entire last week were boring videos. If I had wanted to watch videos I would have taken them out of the library for free.
