Loved Dr. Loo. She's down to earth and caring about her students. Graded on tutorial participation/weekly readings and write-ups, 10 page term paper (based on primary sources), and final exam which was a take home essay.

Inspirational and easy course. Prof has relaxed yet caring demeanor. Majority papers, no tests. Makes lectures interesting and breaks it up with interactive online questionnaires. No group work except talking in tutorial which is held every other week. Easy A if you can write papers and show up for most lectures. Highly recommend prof and course.

Super inspirational professor and great to listen to, but a tough grader. It is hard to get a high mark in her class, even with intense effort BUT it is not hard to get a solid grade so long as you put in the work

Tina was the best proff ive had at UBC. She really knows her material well and I would definitely take her again. There are a lot of marks for participation so its crucial that you attend discussions and actively participate in them. Highly recommend taking her

The other feedback of her is correct she is quite monotonous and reads from her paper notes but I didn't find it boring at all. I thought the topics were interesting and she seemed passionate, but if you're not actually into the environment don't take the class. She used tophat to ask questions and take attendance for a grade so i would show up :)

I really enjoyed the material of this class, but because it was "writing intensive" the marking was fairly tough. I liked Tina's lecture style, and despite the lack of in-class interaction, she was extremely helpful during office hours. I also found the textbook extremely helpful.

Her teaching were not engaging at all. There was never student interaction or discussion which made the lectures hard to follow. The class atmosphere was a very boring one which made the class overall very very boring. Which is sad because the content is actually interesting.

All she does in lectures is talk and there's very little class/no class participation, so if you like lectures this class is good. She is a very good lecturer and does a good job of making the info interesting

Really love Tina. The lectures are so organized, and she succeeds in making abstract concepts easy to understand. She's a good speaker as well! Easy to get a really good mark if you go to class. Also, no textbook- just free online readings. Loved to go to class every time and hated it when I missed one.

I loved this course. Tina knows her stuff and provides an excellent, interesting overview of the material. The class is easy both workload and marks wise - some essays, a take home exam and a few readings a week for the discussion group. Although this course is the environmental history of NA, it only includes Canada and U.S and not Mexico.

I thought that the Environmental History of N. America course was really awesome! Coming from a science major I found this class much less demanding than what I'm used to, however the content and quality of the lectures was really top-notch. Tina is a very good lecturer, and has awesome organization. Very nice in person and easy to talk to!

Very good prof :) She's a great speaker and tries to make the class relatively enjoyable. I'm not gonna lie, I found this class really easy. It'd be tough to get an A, but it's REALLY easy to get a B(+). The final was long, but really easy to study for. I highly recommend this class and this prof!!

Very kind, approachable prof. No trace of pretension or attitude, just a very knowledgeable prof. Has a good speaking voice and has organized lectures. Two essays, midterm, final and journal entries. Had her along with another prof for this course who was the one who marked my work so I can't comment on professor Loo's marking style.

Great prof. Encourages discussion, very relaxed atmosphere (no surprise with only 12 students). She shows an interest in the subject and encourages your interest too. Course work was fair, just a term paper, with marks for draft too. Really enjoyed the course.

I really like Tina. I find her voice clear and controlled, but not monotone, which works for me. Her notes are chronological and easy to follow and read later. She's interesting and plans her lectures well. I hate this class because of the material, but she is a good professor.

Her class is REALLY REALLY BORING! Lectures will make you sleep. She knows what she is talking about but her voice is very monotone and uninteresting. I had her for discussion and she was AGAIN really boring. Try to avoid this class if possible unless you love canadian history.

The class itself is not bad, not much reading reqd, 2 essays, reading responses & final; But her class was sOOOOOOOOOO boring, I HATED attending most lectures, my high school prof was 100X more interesting! Again depending on your TA you can get an okay mark & good workload. Final long but okay.

Snooze! Do not attend lectures, unless you don't know how to read and want someone to read you the lecture notes. Horrible. Her notes are good, but she e-mails them to you - so it ends up being a correspondance class. Have fun, if you need to take the course.
