He is a horrible professor. He does not know what he is doing, very unorganized. He talks all over place and the work he assigns makes no sense. He is very bold in what he says, and does not care if he offends someone. I do not recommend him at all.

Comment:

Baker makes it clear that it's nearly impossible to receive an "A" in his class. His lectures are lengthy and his grading is VERY tough. I took both his Public Speaking + Persuasion courses. You MUST study until your eyes bleed and definitely utilize his office hours! His witty sarcasm + sense of humor makes him a very likable person.

I love Dr. Baker. His lectures will blow your mind but he is hilarious. He wants you to think outside the box. Listen carefully, take good notes (write down every word he says), and study hard. The exams arent hard if you study. He wants you to write definitions in the way he understands so thats why you have to listen during the lectures

I have taken him for Persuasion and I have never done so poorly in a communication class ever. I take great notes, study and still did poorly on his exams. He doesn't even clarify what he's looking for in your responses. Had one paper and one group project, did well but still didn't pass. You ask him questions and he answers with a question.

He really allowed me to think outside of the box and use my imagination in a different way. Tests are tough, but if you study and really train yourself to understand the material you will easily get a good grade. You MUST take notes! Bless.

Dr. Baker really makes you think through his engaging lectures. Three exams will be given. ASK QUESTIONS about the study guide and ask him to go over it in class. The in-class review will help prepare you for the exam. Go over everything on the study guide and it can prepare you well for the exams. The textbook will help you with the study guide.

I've heard Baker is incredible as a Persuasive Comm professor. I'm telling you, DON'T TAKE HIM FOR PUBLIC SPEAKING! He's the most unorganized person ever and this will effect your grade. It's also impossible to get in touch with him outside of class. You are only graded on 3 speech plans and 3 speeches. Harder than a public speaking class should be

SUPER TOUGH. Had him for persuasion, it actually gave me anxiety. Doesn't really talk about the material in an understandable way because he jumps and swerved off topic ALOT. The midterm and final "study guide" was just vague phrases and random words. The answers are "found" in his notes from class. Disregard that expensive textbook you purchased

I had Baker for Persuasion and was so nervous due to all these negative comments and ratings. However, he turned out to be one of my favorite professors and really helped me to think outside of the box. Work hard, study, take notes! This is college people! You cant hate someone for requiring you to put effort.

I really like this professor, but he is infamous for making persuasion impossible! He doesn't ask for a crazy amount of work two papers and three exams - no extra credit opportunities. READ the book, ASK questions, WRITE down everything he says, STUDY. Professor is funny, smart, never boring and actually a lot of fun.

I had Dr. Baker for both Persuasion and Public speaking. I can honestly say that if you get him for persuasion, stick it out, study your ass off and write down everything he says word for word and you'll pass. He was great for public speaking, just follow the speech plan and you'll be good. Aside from school, he is a great guy with a lot of wisdom.

I'm not kidding when I say he was literally the worst professor I'v ever had. Never gotten a D or F in my life and he gives me a D only to hold me one class short of graduation a few days before. Had to take the class during the summer after talking with him, seeing if he could help me out. Terrible professor. learn from my experience and avoid him

I loved baker! Although he tends to go off topic a bit, he's extremely funny and interactive with the class. Just take notes on everything he says (no powerpoints) and study and you have an A. He'll make you earn though :)
