Inspires interest in the material, loves to hear students thoughts, encouraging and gives useful feedback. Very approachable, contactable, available outside of class. A gem of a professor definitely take a class with her if you can.

Prof. Ciepiela is so wonderful, intelligent, and helpful! Did not have her specifically for Russian language class, but have found her to be extremely insightful and supportive in an avant-garde poetry/art history course this semester. Really a wonderful professor.

I took "Fyodor Dostoevsky" with her. Occasionally the discussions felt hindered by the over-definitive answers she gave and I think had she spent more time cultivating class bonding (seriously), discussions could have been ten times more uninhibited and ultimately better. Generally speaking, she's a pretty decent prof but the material was amazing.

I thought she was fine. She does make random mistakes when teaching Russian grammar, but she usually corrects herself immediately. Her Russian pronounciation is pretty good, she's friendly, and her haircut is stylish.

Where to begin with this one? My Russian has gotten worse since taking a class with her-she makes basic grammer errors and corrects you when you're right. Very frustrating, very frustrated. Unpredictable, random grader.

she is clearly not into teaching language and makes crazy grammatical errors and forgets words constantly... not a very inspiring professor at least in teaching Russian.
