Expects you to go to a wildlife refuge and write a report on it while other professors don't have such a useless requirement. Gives exams expecting you to know everything from the lectures. This course is mainly pre-med/pharm students so nobody couldn't less about the material and yet he thinks everyone in the room wants to be a useless biologist.

Honestly, hardest teacher i ever had in my life. I would rather be turned into a snail and have salt poured on me continuously than have to take his class again

Never studied more for a class in my life to get an A. Tests consist of super hard mc and very specific short answer questions. Also he makes you go to a wildlife refuge an hour away which sucks. I don't miss this class one bit.

Very hard. Seems like a nice guy, but his tests are wicked hard. So much underlaying concepts and reading between lines. Your lucky if you get a C

This guy is a genius, but has no freaking clue how to relay the vast information of the subject to his students. It is ridiculous the vast information I have to study for his exams. He is very helpful outside of lecture, but save yourself some time and grief, avoid his class, the stress will only shorten your life span

Hardest Class I ever took! He makes the tests off the top of his head which makes it impossible to study, especially since he doesn't tell you whats on it. He also uses examples that he mentions once in lecture in his exams. Another reason why no one can pass. None of his tests are from the text book so you must go to every class.

I have a 3.9 GPA because I have 4.0's in all of my classes BUT HIS. He was so vague with what will be on the test. Exams consist of a bunch of long essays, short essays, short answers, AND multiple choice. His essays are so "interpretive" so you basically have to argue to get a good grade. Not my cup of tea. He comes off as mean in lectures.

Very difficult class, but if you put in the time, it is not impossible. I have never seen a prof more willing to help. He has office hours every week day and wants students to come speak to him. Tests are hard, but just keep writing everything you know about the subject. Speak to him in person to find out his opinion on how to take his exams.

Yes, tests are difficult and his lecture is 7:30 in the morning. However, all his slides are online and a huge portion of the points come from the lab section of the class. He really grew on me and he's actually quite a nice guy outside of the lecture hall. Eager to help, too.

Do not register for his biology class. This course made me uninterested in biology. Do not purchase the textbook because you won't use it. His lectures are quite interesting, but you'll soon find out he does not teach anything really relevant to his difficult midterms & final. The lab final was fairly easy though, if you read the lab manual.

Fourtner's evolutionary biology class is impossible. I got A's in all my other classes but his. I attended all of his lectures and labs, but the grading system and expectations on the exams are vague yet so exact. In other words, his class is impossible. Avoid if you want a good GPA

This course is incredibly hard no matter who you get. The material is hard to relate to anything. His tests are impossible, i got a 55 on all of them including the final. The book is useless dont waste your money. I wanted to kill myself throughout the semester but in the end the curve is huge so the 50's on the exams came out to a B

This was by far the most difficult class I have ever taken. I am an A student, got 70s on the tests, did fairly well in lab, and managed to pull an A. Just study, a lot. And try to pay attention. He's very difficult to talk to. He ripped me a new one when I asked a question, so have fun with that. The first test is a mind blower, so good luck!

Dr. Fourtner is a nice man but his class is ridiculously hard. I'm generally an A/B+ student and received a C in his class despite my GREAT EFFORT which ruined my gpa to below 3.0. He doesn't respond well to e-mails, and is difficult to get feedback from. AVOID THIS PROF. I didn't listen to rate my prof when everyone warned me and my gpa suffered

This class is difficult, but so is anything you would use this class to qualify for, so that should be a non issue. Dr. Fourtner will give up a lot of his time to help people that are willing to work hard to succeed. HE even ran an optional hour and a half question and answer session on Fridays in a free classroom. If you want to learn, he is great
