Professor Benjamin is a great professor and his lectures aren't too long. The class is 3 hours but he gives you a break. His tests are half take home and in class multiple choice. You have to complete online homework aswell, but that's an easy A. Would recommend everyone to take him, he's very nice and understanding. take him!!!

A great professor. His teaching is based all from the textbook. Pay attention in class, every topic & example he talks about is useful for the exams. The exams are take home, but you must know the material. Do you work, do the homework, pay attention in class, & you will do fine. I am taking this professor again next semester. I learned a lot.

Comment:

Very gentle and soft speaker, but love how he acts all dramatic and yell because he is just so passionate about the subject. He cracks jokes a lot and really puts the material into simplest form for you to understand. Tests are 40 points take home and 80pts in class. Straight forward in class parts from exercises. Very recommended.

Really great teacher! He can teach really complicated material and really put it in laymans terms for everyone to understand. He teaches at a nice steady pace so you can actually process and RETAIN the information!One class with Silliman and you will be hooked. If you want to work in accounting, learn it from this guy!

St. John's needs more professors like Dr. Silliman. Not only is he an expert in the field, he teaches with a great level of enthusiasm. Be warned however, any class with Silliman is no easy ride.

Dr. Silliman is very passionate about accounting. I took a 9-12 class (3 hours long...) which seemed to drag on forever, but was worth sitting through because he always gave extra credit quizzes to help boost up grades.. Good professor

Silliman is def. one of the best Accounting professor at St. John's. He makes the subject matter very fun and easy to learn. He is also very respectful to his students and is willing to help anyone out with whatever problems they may have. Exams, quizzes and assignments were all fair and straightforward. Silliman may be the most amazing Accounting professor I have ever come across at St. John's. He can teach it at a pace anyone can understand and deeply motivates his students in every session. Pop quizzes in each class count as extra credit on tests, and he specifically tells you what will be on what exam. Don't miss out on a great professor!

Prof. Silliman is an excellent professor. The homework he gives is extremely helpful and prepares you for his tests, but you must take your time and do it. He goes through most of the homework in class before you submit it. He also gives quizzes that count as extra credit, which is very helpful. Silliman is the best accounting professor!

Silliman's the best accounting professor at SJU. Teaches at a slower pace but very in depth, which is great b/c the text is horrible. Gives a lot of HW but it prepares you better for the tests and he gives you full credit for trying. Fair take-home midterm and in-class final. Try taking him for as many grad courses as possible.
