Comment:
It's a very challenging class but one of the most interesting classes I have ever taken. There is A LOT of reading and not the easy kind. You will read a lot of graduate level research papers and expected to understand their details very well. Professor Chamley is a great professor and wants you to do well. So GO TO CLASS and office hours

Comment:
Prof. Chamley is incredibly knowledgeable: he can put the topic of the class discussion in appropriate context without making the models unnecessarily complicated- Good level of abstraction. He heavily emphasizes understanding the intuition behind models- which is necessary, but tells you not to worry about the arithmetic (needed for HW). A+

Finally an ECON professor who understands economic history. This guy is very well read, he has a lot of valuable information to offer. His lectures are not particularly exciting, you have to focus on what he is saying and what he is implying because he is talking to himself not to the class. This is a good thing. Very intelligent and knowledgable.

This class forces you to think about the economic motivation that has shaped the world in which we live. Very minimal math, lots of ready which is bland at times but quite interesting. Chamley genuinely cares about his students and will help you get that A! Do not take this class if you have a distaste for France!

Awesome professor! He's disorganized and the lectures are kind of difficult to follow, but he's awesome. He clearly loves teaching and interacting with students. Exams are manageable if you come to class and pay attention. Get him talking about his life/travels and you're in for a good time.

Comment:
Professor seems a bit senile, assignments are vague and tend to not make much sense. Chamley just kinda rambles on in class and takes about the entire class time and then some to convey a simple idea. Readings aren't very helpful but can be interesting

Good guy, definitely knows this topic (social learning) inside & out. Somewhat disorganized on problem sets, but otherwise excellent. Hope that he makes a speedy recovery.

class is not entirely mandatory because of the amount of reading you do on your own. very nice professor with highly manageable accent. he has great knowledge of history of public finances and economics in general. the homeworks are fair, test grading is very fair, and he tries his best to know his students.

History of Public Finance in Europe. This guy was the tops. I'd definitely suggest making good use of his office hours if you plan on doing well in the class. He's a funny guy. Disheveled. Rides a kid's bike. Haha.

He is really a nice guy. He is very clever that makes him talk to himself and explain the concepts ignoring the students. But rather than this and the deep french accent(makes him sweet in fact) he is really perfect. Good to know that people writing very good articles can be good as a person too.

Had to drop the class. SO HARD. Studied the book forever but the test had nothing to do with it. Hard to understand (accent and explanations). When i went to office hours, he clearly wanted to be helpful but really could not explain concepts well.

The hardest class I ever took. Impossible to understand him, he doesn't explain anything, and uses calc3 in an intro-econ class. Terrible
