Comment:
The amount of reading Fahy assigns you is absurd. You can get away with just reading the spark notes, which is what a lot of people did. You have to write at least one paper analyzing art and he kind of just expects you to know how. I recommend bringing your papers to him during office hours to get a better grade.

Professor Fahy is definitely one of my favorite professors at BU thus far! If you make the effort to visit him during office hours and discuss readings you will get to know him really well, he's a nice and interesting guy. Discussions are interesting if you make the effort to talk. Its not impossible to get an A, but you'll have to put the work in.

Comment:
Prof. Fahy is a nice guy, kind of awkward but nice. He gives A LOT of reading, but as long as you memorize what he says in class discussion, you're fine for the exam. Just try to look in depth into EVERYTHING. Participation is a good amount and he's hard grader on that. I participated once or twice per class and only managed a B- in participation.

Comment:
Fahy is great professor who knows everything about literature and art history. However his grading is exceptionally harsh, and I am a very good writer. Do not expect to earn higher than a B in this class, it is simply impossible. If he disagrees with part of your literary analysis, your paper will be destroyed. Participate + Sparknotes = Passing

Comment:
Professor Fahy is definitely a sweetheart. He attempts to keep the class interesting, although if humanities is not your thing then some of the lectures and discussions may seem boring. To get a good grade you should show up to class and understand the basic idea of each reading, film, and art period.

Professor is not tenured for a reason. He knows nothing about what he is talking about, but attempts to sell that he does. If you see Fahy on your schedule you should switch teams. CGS can be an excellent program, but professors like Fahy make it seems like a community college.

Professor Fahy not only is a brilliant professor, but extremely intelligent and entertaining. It is easy to do well in his class if you pay attention, do the work, raise your hand in class, and generally show that you care. He is a very fair grader, and students get the grades they deserve in his class. If you genuinely care, you'll do great!

people walk into freshman year expecting to have teachers practically doing the work for them, this isnt HS and the comments below are from students who apparently weren't ready for a college prof. Fahy is a great teacher with extremely interesting choice of books and awesome discussions and well planned lectures. lucky to have had him

I do not think he is as bad as the others have commented. He is not very interesting but def. knows his material. If you do not understand him during class, go to his office hours. He is extremely helpful. However, he is def. a hard grader. Also, you have to talk in class in order to have a higher participation grade.

He is a sweetheart but that really is the only plus. Class is very boring. Finals have no relevance to what was discussed in class. Grading is off. He likes when you talk in class, so just say random stuff. He really is a nice guy and is open to help just I cant remember a time where I actually could pay attention in class.

So so so boring. I stare into space and count every torturous second as one that I will never get back. My class is full of absolute morons as well and he does nothing to shut them up or correct them. He's a really nice guy and understanding about extenuating circumstances but don't expect to really learn much.

Terrible professor, needed to be corrected, ridiculous grader. Doesn't seem to really know much about what he's teaching. He's very into movies, so try to show some interest, he's a nice guy, but not the greatest choice as a professor

nice guy. the only interesting thing about the class was how often he would lick his own face. tough grader. MIDTERMS AND FINALS ARE ALL ART! don't be fooled by all the reading you did all year, that's basically only for papers!

Alright, here's the lowdown. Fahy teaches humanities by the book. You'll read sections of lots of different books, many poems, plays, and watch a few movies. He gets a bit of a kick out of giving B's, so don't give him the chance. He's not much of an expert on anything, so you won't become much of one on anything either.

Holly ****.. Fahy is the most boring proffesor I've ever had! I like art, love watching films and was pretty excited to learn about it but dam, Fahy just made it painful! I didn't walk away with anything in his class-- by far the most useless class of my life. He was a sweet guy but so akward and not enthuisastic about anything!

Professor Fahy is a really good teacher. The content is difficult and a little boring. It is hard to not enjoy the class though because he is so passionate about what he is teaching. He is a really nice guy and I am lucky to have him this year. He's a cutie pie too.

Weirdest teacher I have ever had. Don't get me wrong, he is the sweetest guy in the world, but he is not meant to be teaching. His tests were basically impossible unless you memorized everything in every book he ever assigned reading to...even if you didn't even mention it in class.

Nice guy, but hard professor. can't teach. tests are super hard. make sure you keep up with reading. he will quiz you on them after the first few assignments as he notices people don't read. if u read, u can participate and thats good. he sometimes like just stops...like he doesn't know where he is at. good luck staying awake on mornings.
