Comment:

Not an awful teacher, but his lectures are stale. I took it online and all the exam material was from the book. He just highlights small pieces in his lectures. To do well, attend/watch all lectures, make your own study guide with the Learning Outcomes, and take the test with friends to help each other out! Good luck!

lol, this man does not know what he is doing but he is nice. Maybe I needed to study more, but the first exam, everyone failed, the average was a 40% . nice guy, but i wish there was another professor to teach this

Comment:

Lipson is a very nice man and knowledgable in the subject of microbio. However, his lectures are boring and disorganized, making it difficult to understand the material. I referenced the textbook several times to help me study, even though you don't really need it to pass. Luckily, he records his lectures to view online so I skipped this 8am class.

Dr. Lipson is awkward and his lectures were a tad painful, but he posts the recordings and powerpoints online so you don't need to go to class. Sometimes read the book for extra clarification and followed the study guides and got an A. Tests weren't too bad but he curves a lot.

Lipson can be awkward at times but he's funny, really nice, and super smart. His classes are not mandatory.Lectures are recorded puts them online. Book isn't very necessary. He curves a lot if the test average is low. Study the learning objectives that he gives for each chapter-- the tests are mainly based on those and what he says in lecture.

YIKES! This guy was a trip. I felt like every sentence that came out of his mouth was important... but the material was intense at times. VERY passionate, but hard to follow. Just put in the work and it will pay off.

He may be a little awkward but Dr. Lipson is actually a decent lecturer and makes ecology more interesting. His study guides are really helpful and the exams are fairly easy. Take good notes during lecture because a lot of the content he covers is not in the book.

As long as you attend class and take good notes you will pass. He does have a tendency to talk fast and go off subject but he is a good fair teacher. I didn?t purchase but attended every lecture and I got a B.

Comments below are totally true. He can be painfully ackward to watch but he gives a good study guide and tests arent terribly difficult. Ended up walking away from ecology with a greater interest.

Very nice guy, doesn't want to torture his students with difficult exams. He is sometimes goofy and painfully awkward, but it's entertaining. Really passionate about the subject. Go to class and you'll do fine.

Friendly and nice professor. Does go off on tangents and goes all over the place. Very helpful. Lectures are slow going, but he is quite funny and it helps to pass the time. Overall, good professor that will gladly steer you in the right direction.

I like Dr. Lipson as a person, but he's hard to relate to as a person. I had a difficult time studying for his tests because I never knew what he would throw at us because his lectures often included lots of tangents.
