Gives off the vibe of being old fashioned and a tough grader, but is actually the opposite. Is easy going and has been merciful many times, he knows that the material is hard. There is a lot of material being taught, you need to start studying at least a week beforehand. I worked hard and got 90+ on all of the tests.

I have taken several courses with Dr. Slish (BIO114, BIO213, BIO401, BIO424) and absolutely recommend him! He's a great professor (and a huge fan of corny jokes). You don't need the textbook; his notes are plenty and cover what will be tested. I will say, if you don't like to work hard or think critically, do not take his courses.

Slish is a great person and a great advisor. However I took Bio 101 with him and he literally writes everything on the board, he doesn't do powerpoint. So it is very important to stay alert in his class to write down all his notes and pay close attention. It was really hard for a 100 level class, but study his notes and you'll be prepared.

Simply read the material and study. Slish explains what he can during the short time available for class, but, it's up to the student to put in the extra effort in order to do well.

Go to class. Ask for help. Read the online textbook (which is free!! THANK YOU) This class was tough, but you can do well if you try. Slish is old fashioned... which I'm not a fan of, but... whatever. Tests are based off of the notes he gives in class, so be there.

Slish is a great person and is very funny. He tries to make lecture interesting but is very vague and dry. He forgets his students aren't as smart as he is and forgets to explain things. The class is based on 4 extremely hard tests and a final. Be prepared to study a lot and teach yourself most of the material.

I'm writing this for anyone interested in the intro to health professions class. Don't skip any class. Simple. He takes 10 point off if you skip one class, so your whole grade is basically attendance. Just come and mark attendance it doesn't really matter if you pay attention

Slish is a nice person and you can see that he is really smart and knows his subject well. Nevertheless, his lectures are difficult to understand and his notes in class are not very structured.

Bio 103 Great professor very laid back gives detailed notes if you study it's easy to pass. But beware of skipping if you don't get proper notes it's hard to pass the online quizzes.

Slish is a very smart person, however, he does not make a good professor. He talks very slowly and makes it hard to stay awake, especially in the AM. He also comes off as very rude when you ask him a question. Tests are passable but assignments are tedious.

ooh slish. everything you need to know is presented during his lectures. only bases your grade on a total of 4 (INCREDIBLY HARD) test. offers extra credit for every test but they are still hard. 8 short answer problems that go way more into depth than you thought you learned. i studied for days and still received barely passing grades

He lectures are very difficult to understand its best to watch youtube videos and read the text to clarify. I wish he had words on his presentations rather than just pictures. He definitely know his stuff and does not mind helping you as well understand. His exam are not straight forward more so indirect I recommended him he is great thou.

A great guy who really knows his stuff. Moves fast in lecture but is always willing to stop & explain something/answer a question if you have one. His notes can be a little confusing so be ready to listen to what he's saying and write that down too. STUDY A LOT for exams or you'll fail, go online and look at his power points while studying.

Honestly Prof Slish is awesome. If you simply study and do well on the quizzes/test you will pass with flying colors. Only downfall is that he has a strict attendance policy so make sure you GO to class. He is also hilarious and makes all of his lectures interesting. So unless your a extreme sour apple then you will have fun in class.

It's not an easy course, so if you don't need it, don't take it. If you do need it, it's excellent prep for future course work. It's extremely detailed and even though the material is complex and deep, he tries to break it down so you understand it. Even so you NEED TO READ & GO TO CLASS. Otherwise, you won't get a good grade.

Slish's a great prof overall: he explains the material clearly, provides notes online, & really loves bio. He gives 3 exams consisting of multiple-choice & short-answer ?s which are relatively easy if you've studied. There are also online quizzes due weekly. He has a very sarcastic sense of humor & can be difficult to connect w, but a good 101 prof

Lots of extra credit to help you pass the tough exams. Their are many exams in the course so you have a chance to make up for a poor grade. Lecture is important, he gives you what will be on the exam but isnt very good at explaining the material so reading the book helps ALOT but is not needed.
