I had her for A-S101 and loved her! She's a very caring person and wants everyone to succeed. This class meets on Fridays only, and if you don't come you WILL fail! As long as you turn everything in and show up, you'll pass! Super easy.

Had her for Web Design. You just read through the textbook and follow the directions on the basics of web design. She doesn't do much formal teaching in class, its mostly self taught, but she is a very intelligent professor and is very helpful. She encourages you to push yourself. She can be pretty ruthless with critique, but it makes you better.

Like most teachers here, she doesn't actually teach you anything. The first day of class she says "start designing a website" then every class period after that is "free time to work on website". Totally worthless, but no one else seems to care because she is a hippy or whatever so they automatically love her

Doreen is absolutely amazing. Hard classes, but really pushes you to do your best. Knows how to critique without going in for the kill, but also making you work harder. She's great one on one and leading the class. I definitely recommend her.

Comment:

Doreen is warmhearted and fun. She challenges students to think beyond what they're comfortable with by introducing high-level weekly readings. I thought the class was a bit easy, but everyone else seemed to think it was boot camp, so whatever. Very free in terms of nurturing your individual style, which I appreciated.

I don't think she's that great. There is so much reading that has nothing to do with the class. I've found that if our projects are not to her liking then we get a bad grade. It's nice that she makes the last hour optional, or else I think my brain would be fried.
