Comment:
Start with a 60 and every case you argue successfully brings up your grade. Grading is a bit unclear. Final grade I received was not reflective of there work I felt I put in, and others feel the same, except that they received grades better than they thought they deserved. Not a bad class, but make sure you meet with him about grades early on.

Oh god this guys Advanced Financial Management Class is great. Everything is set up as a debate and the class functionally tests everything you've learned in business school since. He takes theoretical stuff and teaches you how they work through practical cases. The debate nature of the class can be a turn off for some but I love it.

Savickas is the man! Super interesting guy with a great background in finance. The class structure is really great, since you analyze a case every week. Some students put a lot of work into Excel models for the case, but you can get an A by just reading the case carefully and bringing some good ideas to class.

You cannot fail this class. Literally. Everyone starts with a D and it can only go up. Most classes are a case study and you argue either "yes" or "no" to a question. One side wins and their grades go up. It's quite simple. How much work you put in is entirely up to you--a lot or a little.

Class is case-based. Read a case, argue your side based on facts from the reading. If your side "wins" you get full credit. If you "lose" you get no credit. Build on your base score each week. Basically everyone gets an A if you just read the cases and participate in chat. Show him you're making an effort and you are golden.

I am taking the investment analysis and portfolio management with Professor Savickas. The midterm scores were just released. The grades are fair I believe. 10 out of 27 got above 90 and 1 got below 50. That sounds to me if you work on it, he gives you A. If you really want a C, he gives you a C.

Professor Savickas is a really cool professor. He's great on grading and he teaches you how to do case reports and financial reports, and he doesn't ask too much from his students. One of the best professors at GW and hes really fun to be around.

Great professor, cares about his students and is very reasonable. He's also the funniest prof I've ever had, and class was actually fun! Exams can be easy if you follow the class and take notes, as he focuses on the important points and not on small details. The case reports and project are an easy A as long as your analysis actually makes sense.

Dr.Savickas made such a heavy Math oriented class easy to understand. He taught us to learn/remember by not cramming the formulae but by understanding the concepts. Some of the "so-called" abstract concepts like GBM,B-S,Wiener process etc., he explained with very easy to remember real life examples. I also learnt a lot during his office hours.
