I took this class because I needed a science, and I think I made a good choice. It is moderately difficult. My biggest advice is to GO TO CLASS! Skipping is not good. I didn't like the structure of the lab, because more than professor led them, but other than that everything was okay.

Doug is an awesome teacher who is more than willing to answer questions and provide students with the info needed to understand topics. Had him for micro/immun, parasitology, histology, research,and research participation.

He tended to ramble at times, making some things unclear. Lots of times he'll talk about a topic expecting you to already understand the scientific jargon and whatnot, but if you ask questions or skim through the chapter that's not a problem. Will complain about how nitpicky he is regarding written responses though.

Doug is not only a very nice person, he's a good prof, and I recommend Bio131. But I'll warn you: Don't wait until the last minute to do your bug collection!!!
