Comment:

I took his class for painting I and genuinely loved it. He gives great feedback and allows for creative freedom for every project. The class environment was very cooperative and friendly as well. As long as you provide finished works and participate in the critiques you'll do fine.

If you really care for art do not take this professor. Gives you a packet to go off of for projects. Never in class always walks out for like 30 mins. His online quiz are long and gives us only 20 min for 15 questions. like wtf. He is very monotone and sounds like he doesn't want to be here. I'm surprised he was even hired for this college.

He was barely in class. Talks about his beliefs but won't teach. Refused to teach us photoshop, he said real artists don't rely on tools?? Had to drop because this wasn't a serious art class. Just do a few layers over an image in photoshop and you get an A. Take Karl Frey instead you'll learn everything you need to know about digital art.

Had him last year and I was amazed with the fact that he doesn't teach and our class had to learn to make art on our own. Honestly, all you gotta do is show up, turn in heavily photo shopped images, agree with him in critiques and you got an A! Wished he took the time to show us how to work with Adobe cause a lot of people didn't know what to do.

Took his class for Digital Art 2 and Design class years ago. This is such an easy class. Easy A for both Digital Art and Design. Just show up to class and work on your projects. Participate in class in the few critiques and you're golden. Bought the book at Half Price Books for $8 and haven't used it once.

Mr Rodriguez was pretty awesome. Dry humor, pretty laid back. Thoug I didn't learn any new painting technique I did learn how to build a canvas which was awesome. It's not an easy A type of class. You do have to paint more than your typical fruit in a basket. He's an artist himself and he does tend to lean & push more towards his style of paintings

Worst professor I ever had in my life. He doesn't teach ANYTHING about technique. He just wants you to paint the way he does. He gets threatened by students that actually know how to draw and will just insult them. If you actually care about art, don’t take his class. But if you want a bs class where you can scribble on a canvas, go for it.

I had him for Design I, and made an A. I loved him. He doesn't give you much input on your work, when asking his opinion. He gives you plenty of time to finish your projects & is a fair grader. Attendance isn't mandatory as long as you get your work done on time. He gives you 5 chances for extra credit. Good teacher overall.

Mean-spirited. Started out telling me how on a scale from 1 to 10, my work was a zero! (Several times). Asked him what I could do to improve it and he would tell me to "put life into it". He picked his favorites, for sure. Had to drop because I figured he'd fail me no matter how hard I worked....

He is the most amazing professor and person I have ever met. Truly genius, he believes in the individual, and wants to challenge his students to think outside the box. Imagine that, a creative approach to teaching his students! Honestly, one of the best!! if you believe in yourself.

I LOVED this guy! He was very honest and doesnt candy coat his critiques on anyone's artwork. If he doesnt like it, you better change it while you have the chance. Even though he didnt "teach" us methods or anything, I learned a LOT from his class with the help of other people in the class. I got an A and I feel accomplished on my 4 foot paintings

Rodriguiez is one of my great idols.He is an incredible teacher with a keen ability to inspire.A consumate professional he takes art very seriously and demands a high stadard of dedication in students' work. He pushes his pupils to acheive and believe in what they do, to evolve their artistic abiliy to new heights.hardcore,likeable,a genius.

Act like an adult, he'll treat you like one (and give you the freedoms that go along with it), but don't abuse his hands-off approach. At first he comes off as monotonous, even maybe cold, but once he gets to know you he can be quite funny and has a wealth of knowledge. He's also a very fair, consistent grader. Uncommon in SAC's art department.

Was the best instructor I have had, very honest. He taught me more by doing less. He lets you be in control of your own success.By the way had him for paintaing 1,2,and 3. Drawing1,2, and 3 and also design. In my opinion a very educated person. Also I took him 13 years ago and still feel this way about him.

Overall he seems to be a decent person. He never teaches anything and is never in the classroom except to criticize a student's work. He has a good eye for good work, but is not helpful getting students to that point. I had issues with him, as did a few other students. i suggest you look elsewhere if you want to be actually taught.

Where to start..He is rarely in the classroom which is great. He leaves you to do your own thing and really doesn't give too much instruction. You learn techniques from the book and apply them to your paintings. He will answer questions if asked. Blunt & a little sexy..maybe its the attitude. lol. Try not to have a different opinion from his.

Awesome professor. Dry and sarcastic sense of humor. Leaves you to do your own thing during class and willing to answer questions when needed. Highly recommended if you already know what you're doing and don't need much attention.

Terrible teacher. Firstly, he's lazy. He doesn't really do any teaching at all, and frequently just steps out of the class. Secondly, he's vague. His style desired becomes unclear, and he seems to only want a person to work in his style. Thirdly, he has no passion about art, or seems to have none. Waste of time, since he isn't there to teach.
