vague ancient videos(no original material) yet complex assignments & exams. Tenured professor. NJIT ignorant to his carelessness. Feels robbed and betrayed taking his lectures. If grading is wrong on their part and you tell them, won't listen at all. TL;DR? JUST DON'T!

He's a tenure. Doesn't care about quality of his lectures. Lectures are at least 10 years old. He has a an extremely heavy accent. He literary reads power point slides off the screen. Doesn't provide any explanations. Responds if you send him an email. Doesn't read/responds requests on canvas. He is way behind of progress in teaching methods.

Worst class I've taken at njit. Homework assignments take 20+ hours to complete, and consist of garbage "hand calculations" of worthless math problems. Trash feedback on assignments "-5 wrong" is all you will see. Exams are half previous homework, half "Guess what I'm thinking". Avoid this class, avoid this instructor. Not worth the time invested.

Lectures are boring but attendance counts so you have to go. Homeworks are fair and he gives you old exams to study from which are exactly like the exams he gives. You have to study for the class yourself because the lecture slides don't help. The curve for the class is crazy huge though and homework is 35% so an A is feasible. Overall not too bad

He is a walking projector. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK. He says you need it for homework but we also live in an age where pdfs are always an option. Save your money. His accent is nearly impossible to understand but curve is crazy because he knows not a soul would pass his class otherwise.

Dr. Shih's accent can be tough to understand, and his lectures tend to be very technical. You WILL need to read the book and follow up certain material online. He expects students to learn - not just absorb info. The material is challenging, but the homework and tests are VERY fair, leaning towards the more simple aspects of the lectures.

Look through the powerpoints he posts on moodle if you need help with the homework - you can't skip out on it as it's worth 35% of your grade. He didn't take attendance in lecture for my class so don't bother going if you feel like it's a waste. Make sure you go to recitation as attendance is necessary and 5% of your grade. Do his practice exams.

you will not learn anything from lecture videos. they are fast, unclear and skips lot of clear explanation that's needed for an advanced course like this. you will end up searching net for anything. homeworks are easy but pay attention to what he did in the slides. do something else that's not in lectures you get zero even if its correct

DONT EVER TAKE HIM!! he is the toughest grader I have seen and his curves are horrible. Especially if you have no interest in the subject and find it very hard he is going to take you to a whole new level of difficulty. HW questions are hard and tests are harder. He can bring down your whole GPA. Avoid at all costs. Cant even understand his English

Accent isn't that bad honestly, pretty much irrelevant. He reads off powerpoints which are also on moodle. He posts practice exams as well. Exams are on the easy side, just review the material. Recitation is an absolute bore. Nothing against his TA who's real nice though, he tends to let us out early. Prof. Shih isn't the best 'teacher' but who is

He knows what he's talking about, but you can't really understand him. He reads off of a PowerPoint. Lectures are long, and not very relevant except for the midterms and finals, and even then its mostly from the book. Homeworks are easy. Exams require skill so pay attention. Not the worst professor, but definitely not the best.

yes he has an accent but if you listen and follow along the slides then the course becomes a walk over. Just pay attention and not be like 75% of the class on their PCs and mobiles.

Dr. shih is a nice guy. Has a thick accent and reads off of ppt. But if you go to him and ask questions, he is eager to help. HWs are not that hard and bump your grades up a lot. Tests are usually above 100 and he brings it to a 100 scale which is good for student. I don't see any reason to fail this class unless you NEVER read his lecture notes.

He is a very nice professor who wants to help his students, but it is their job to care enough to ask him. All assignments are easy if you do not get intimidated by the content of the course. If you have no programming experience, definitely put a lot of effort into the class. Overall, great professor, i got nearly a perfect grade in the course.

He doesn't clarify well what is expected on the tests. He teaches off his powerpoints and you're left to study off of printouts of the slides. The tests then have around 40 true and false/ M.C questions that are often not clearly answered on his powerpoints. The average in the class is very low. AVOID
