Comment:

Lab for DSP with FPGA is a great course. Thanks to Prof. Akansu for developing it. He is the man mentors all of his students. That is what the industry is looking for. Tons of self-study needed. It is a gem. Take it if you have the drive and appreciatiation of it. Get marketable in the job market. Good luck!

I struggled at the beginning of the semester. Then, everthing fit in the big picture and crystal clear. I scored a big A. Prof. Akansu is a true mater. If you want to specialize in DSP you cannot avoid this course. Believe me, it is an eye-opener.

Don't expect to get much out of this lab. You get what you put in, this guy seems to only care about you showing up and trying, but not very much on making sure you understand everything fully. Painful when he would try to explain things to us because he talks to us like we are all electrical engineers already. Plus side is he grades very fairly.

Very good course. Mostly complex math and transforms. Pretty much an engineering math course. Cannot say an easy course. Seasoned professor with lots of homeworks, Matlab assignments. Cleared my mind on math stuff I've known from UG. Ties math with EE. Take it with him if you want to learn material. He is a demanding instructor who teaches well.

Comment:

I liked Prof. Akansu's teaching method and learned DSP well. He is theoretically solid and ties it to hot applications. Easy on HWs and pushes for MATLAB use. His grading is fair. You can benefit from his scientific stature and experience. I'm very impressed when I googled him. Strongly recommended.
