Professor Ellis, who I know only through courses, was always inspiring and a major influence on my decision to pursue graduate studies and a career in academia. He often posed problems that went beyond the material in the courses -- mind openers, if you were open to them. It's fair to say that he brought a unique perspective to every subject.

I can say with much confidence that I have not learned one thing in this class. He spends his lectures talking about nothing and then gives rediculously hard problem sets that have nothing to do with what he refers to in class.
