Worst professor at Wesleyan. Doesn't listen to his students, laughs in your face when you express concerns.

Comment:
Blumel's intro classes are not particularly difficult, but that is not because he necessarily teaches the class well. The thing is, he is a ridiculously brilliant research professor, so he expects people to understand material with ease. If you read the book and understand the problem sets/practice exams, you'll do fine.

If you can take a class with anyone else, do. This man is honestly awful: rude, absolutely cannot teach students anything, and is like talking to an unwavering wall if you express concerns.

A bit of an odd-ball as a person, though adorable. Even though I didn't take physics in HS and have pretty much no math background, I found this course laughably easy. Questions on the weekly quizzes are taken right from the problem sets. The exams are bit tougher, focusing more on lecture material, but if you show up, you'll be fine.

Very smart but just can't relate to intro physics students. His lectures have almost nothing to do with the homework quizzes he assigns. 10% of his tests is usually some random piece of information he mentioned once in lecture. Grade is saved by the curve and by the homework quizzes every week.

He's terrible. Very unclear, very unwavering. The entire class could be against him on an issue and he just simply does not care. It does not matter if he is brilliant he obviously does not care enough to listen to literally the ENTIRE classes issue.

This guy MUST have tenure. Mean, unclear, fast, rude to those who ask questions, constructs an unnecessarily stressful course out of straightforward material. Blumel is easily the worst professor I've ever had in terms of teaching quality. He's brilliant, yeah, but who cares if he doesn't use that brilliance to help students understand the course.

THE WORST! His class is SO difficult and SO stressful! He doesn't explain anything or do practice problems, doesn't have office hours, gives impossible problem sets, and basically makes your life a living hell! You'll end up with an A/B in the class because he curves EVERYTHING but it's awful! If you can take the class with anyone else PLEASE DO.

Reinhold is one of the most brilliant people I have ever had the priviledge of meeting; moreover, he has the ability to teach the most difficult of subjects with great clarity.
