He gives really good feedback on assignments and he isn't a tough grader but if you're actually looking to learn something then this class isn't for you. His lectures don't really explain much and I've had to research most of the material myself and learn via youtube. His homework assignments are really difficult and his lectures don't help.

This class is not difficult but does require constant effort. As long as you follow prof Ortega instructions he will grade you fairly. all quizzes can be retaken. All essays and discussions take time but aren't overly complicated. I would not recommend taking this class if philosophy is not your thing. philosophical interest is needed.

His lectures are absolute nonsense. I am praying that this course is transferrable because I am trying so hard to learn his lectures but they have NO SUBSTANCE. It feels like a stoner is trying to half-ass teach me something he doesn't care about.

Prof. Ortega for online Philos. 1 is super easy. There's some work involved but it's laid out in a clear way. Not a tough grader at all and he basically just wants you to come up with unique ideas. Had a good experience with him, definitely would recommend.

teacher gives a ton of work, and it isn't that difficult, except he likes to use big words to make himself sound smarter but really just ends up confusing everyone with his instructions and you have to email him a bunch to make sure you are doing the assignments right, wouldn't recommend taking unless you have to just because he is hard to understn

TOUGH! The work load was HEAVY, lots of discussions, workshops, and group work. Be ready to read and write lots! You should also have good math skills to take this course, in my opinion. Gives amazing feedback and is a fair grader! He really wants you to succeed. I managed to almost get 96% in the course. He could be better about emails. Regards, F

I took his 8 week online class and it was definitely not easy. However, even if you get some homework wrong he isn't a tough grader at all and gives you great feedback! I got full points on all my assignments even though I got some stuff wrong sometimes. His class is extremely structures and I really liked that. You can retake all quizzes!

Ortega really cares to teach, he takes the time to read and give you useful feedback on all of your work. I have never had such proactive Professor. He does not require you to buy an expensive textbook, for he writes great lectures. Work load was a little heavy, but that may be because it was an 8 week class. Best online Professor I have ever had!!

Great moderator of an online course. Most of it was pretty standard and easy to keep up with. The only hard part of this course is the unit on Venn diagrams and truth tables, but besides for that everything is easy and he grades very leniently. Gave great feedback on every assignment and quizzes can be taken unlimited times.

The material is definitely difficult to follow. However, he dedicates time to ea. submission & provides very helpful feedback so that students get the material. There are 15 quizzes for ea. lecture, module, & allows the students to retake the quizzes in order to receive full credit. Requires background in math, (venn diagrams & truth tables) .

I am a philosophy major who figured taking this online class would satisfy that requirement somewhat easily. wrong. This online class is awful. There is a ton of material that does not pertain to the quiz you have to get a perfect score on just to get to the next unit. His homework is so so pointless. Prof is rude in emails. DO NOT TAKE.

I took his online winter class and he gives you unlimited attempts to score a 15/15 on the quizzes, so your grade stays at an A. Lots of discussions that are worth 45 points, but Prof. Ortega gives you full credit if each post is 100 words or more. Nice guy, conversed with him via email. TONS OF NOTE TAKING.

This Professor cares about his students. I like his lectures, that also have links for more information. He gives great feedback on discussions that expands your knowledge. His assignment is split into three pieces, and although challenging, it is very interesting! 6 quizzes for winter semester which are also very interesting and expand knowledge.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS It is only out of 380 points and most of it is Essays HE will NOT round a 79 to a B on transcript, his directions for work are TERRIBLE and he is disrespectful in his emails if you have questions about his misleading materials

With the new canvas online program this class is good organized. There are 6 quizzes no exams 1 3 stage research assignment and 4 forum discussions. I honestly feel this course is not hard at all. Also, he does reply to emails right away if you have any questions

Honestly this class has so much work in a short amount of time (6 weeks) He's a nice guy but this class has a lot of material. Assignments take so much time and you have about 4 days to do them. Exams are tough and how can you study for them when you're busy doing assignments and other things for this class? Don't take, unless you really need to.

Took his online class, beware of strict deadlines. You get one day to take the tests, and he locks the lectures before, and makes you install examgaurd. You have to do the reading, but if you do the tests are passable.

I took professor Ortega for Philosophy 1 online, the course isn't an easy A. The course consists of 1 big assignment, 6 exams and threaded discussions. The assignment wasn't hard but did require time. The discussions were not too hard . He uses examguard on tests :. I scraped an A but I recommend you avoid unless totally necessary!

Such a hard class, you have to study the book a lot and make sure you pass all the tests and make all the homework, and discussions. He always have tests you have to pass in order to even get access to some parts and you have to do the homework and submit it before you can even access the discussions. This was so hard, at least for me!
