Jones is very sweet and funny but she can be very confusing when she says one thing then something else the next. She is not at her office at her scripted hours. Like when me and some other classmates tried to find her to get help but wasn't there. However, she helped me become a better actress and Acting 1 was my favorite fall class this year

Very nice person with great enthusiasm for directing. Her directing class was challenging but her acting class was the worst of many theater classes I have taken. Her casting choices are terrible if you like realistic performances but she does well with stylish characters that are not intended to be convincing, focusing on entertainment foremost.

A bit of a kook, She's unorganized, and will not post lectures on EC even if you ask her to. "Read the book." Her questions on the test are weirdly stated. Oh and make sure you say you love every SMC play because she totally drinks the kool-aid if you know what I mean. I saw my first SMC play and thought it was an absolute train wreck.

Even though Jones's boring lectures were on subject, she never actually tested us on it. Instead, the exams had stupid questions stolen from the review cards! They were both multiple choice with either specific questions (who was the designer of this play?) or completely inane ones (which of the following people WEREN'T mentioned in your text?)

She is a great teacher!!! Very helpful and sweet. She likes students who work hard...who doesn't? I really enjoyed her class and excited to take more classes with her. She is my favorite from the Theater Department.

Worst professor I have ever had. I took this class as a requirement for my GE's and would have done whatever I could to not take her class. No where in the course outline did it state having to go the 3 to 4 plays(paid out of pocket) or having to buy and present a play. She talks about everything and nothing and I feel as if I wasted my time.

Acting1.She is prejudice and favorites the ones that she thinks are talented. It's so clear that there's a favorite that gets better treatment and she makes you feel stupid and incompetent. I entered this class happy and eager to learn the arts but now I leave it feeling like sh*t. Yes I did get an A but she has made me hate the subject. Stay away.

Took her acting 1 class...compared to everything I have learned she doesn't know what the hell she is talking about...She makes students do excessive paperwork and attendance of shows and essays and focuses too much on props and blocking rather than actual acting. She doesn't give good advice and she is very disorganized.

This is a great class for shy people. She is very nice to everyone as long as you give in some form of effort. The downside is she is so nice you don't really know if you're as good as she says you are because people who really sucked got little critique. She seems to critique the good ones way more probably to improve the good ones.

Save yourself! Don't take her for intro to theater, it is by no means an introduction class. It's EXPENSIVE and so boring! She just clicks through a PowerPoint for two hours and babbles about random stuff you don't think is important until it pops up on the midterm. Terrible, boring, expensive and frustrating. Attendance is mandatory she takes roll

Dr. Jones is very sweet and melodramatic. She wants you to buy two expensive scene books and list a few more that you should get but not required. In order for you to have a good grade you must attend plays(which you pay for) and you have to write an essay about them. At first I was excited about taking TH ART.. but now I can't stand theatre.

you are obligated to spend money on the shows if you want to get better then a C!!! The book is also expensive! u must show up to class, her lectures are boring. She does not really follow the book, but it's a fun class. She makes you play these games to "relax" and she's very very sweet unless u get her upset.

Professor Jones is simply amazing! Her approach to introductory acting was a solid foundation when I went on to take other acting classes here; and her students are always cast! She was really critical of me once, performed the scene again with her advice, and there was definitely a great difference! Be open-minded! Amazing, Highly Recommended!

If you want to be in theater in any way professionally, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. She might have a lot of background but its not good. Personally she seems sweet, but her critique is harmful to new actors who are EAGER to learn THE RIGHT WAY. Difficult A, Very time consuming, attendance is mandatory

This is an EXPENSIVE class. 4 outside play reviews are required. She is here to direct plays, students are a problem. Does not give notes at all, expects you to love the theater just because everyone should love theater. Tests are completely from the book. No extracredit, no makeups, no extensions, no exceptions. She does not answer questions. HARD

If you are serious about acting, do not, i repeat, do NOT take Janie's class. She gives horrible feedback and seems like she isn't even paying attention at times. A sweetheart though.

Dr. Jones is a special woman who is passionate about teaching and Theatre. She provided me with a whole new outlook on plays and inspired me to look beyond the stage and seek out the reflection of the time period and analyse the message. Dr. Jones is an A+ professor that makes learning about Theatre interesting and beneficial.

how to describe janie... she is very sweet and obviously cares a lot about theatre. She will find something to praise you for and so long as you make the effort to perform scenes you'll find this class easy. completely disorganized but very sweet person

Midsummer was a beautiful production; fun taking her class. It would be most helpful if she could help direct actors to agents or managers for representation to help further their paths. Bringing in agents or managers would help us the most as actors. Encourage success instead of discourage. Different actors have different abilities or strength
