Great player and teacher. He knows what he's talking about. As long as you do what he tells you to do, and practice efficiently, you will grow phenomenally as a player. Two of his students this year won national competitions. He won't just give you a grade. You have to work for it, but it's worth it.

This is a pretty easy class although attendance is mandatory and the class is really boring. You have to attend the entire class in order to get the password for the online quizzes he gives. The quizzes come from the lectures and the tests come from the book. You should do fine as long as you come to class and take notes off the slides he puts up.

This is one of the best teachers you will have at ECU. He knows what he's taking about, is a phenomenal player, and really pushes his students and supports them in their playing. If you work hard and take advantage of all the opportunities he gives you to improve you can't go wrong.

Here's a professor who can play as well as teach. The poster who says he's a jerk must have tried to get away with not doing the work. Show up for discussions, turn in assignments and you will get a good grade and learn about jazz. The review sessions are very helpful and can be alot of fun.
