She cares about all her students as individuals, even if you aren't an anthro major. Her classes are mostly lecture, but they're structured in a way that is easy to understand, and broken up by discussion and anecdotes that help you understand the material.

Dr. Mathews made Intro to Archaeology very amusing. She had lots of stories to tell (but not rambling) and her lectures were to the point. She tells you what you need to know and is there to help if you need it. Overall, she's a great professor and I would definitely take her again!

I've taken 2 classes with her. She is just a great professor who cares about her students and encourages them to address any concerns during office hours. Her lectures are clear and the articles she assigns are very interesting. Work load is intense, so don't take a class with her if you're overstretched.

Human Evo might be one of the easiest classes at Trinity. That said, the material is extremely dumbed down, redundant, and memorization-based. Mathews is a stickler; she hates it when you miss class even if you make grades on tests and she has countless silly guidelines for projects. 4 pictures with subtitles for your paper! Very MS class.

Though note taking should be expected every day and she races through them regularly, the subject material doesn't fail to keep your attention. The primatology project was a bit of a strange project, but interesting once all the data is accumulated. Gives you a new appreciation for primates and early hominids.

I loved this class, it was very interesting. Though it seems like there is always something significant due in this class, it's not difficult to make good grades- just do the work and study what she tells you for the tests.

Dr. Mathews is the best professor in the Anthropology department. Her popularity is obvious by the number of advisees she has, but then again, she's the reason most of us become Anthropology majors. Take anything you can with her.
