Prof Allen really cares about her students and what she's teaching. Exams were a little difficult if you didn't study - look at study guides & past readings for the essay questions. HW was about every other week. Participation matters- during discussion HW or the polling for attendance. I recommend her because she's easily accessible for questions.

Dr. Allen is one of my favorite professors here. You can tell she genuinely cares about her students and will do anything she can to help them succeed. I skipped class a few times, but I usually attended. I studied a few hours for her tests and I always got an A -uses mostly material from her slides and gives you a study guide with everything on it

Jill is such a gem and a great psych instructor! She has the energy of an elementary school teacher, in the sense that she's passionate and often encourages engagement in the lecture. She has clear guidelines for what to expect and is a very caring individual. Lectures can get boring, but Jill's passion for what she's talking about shines through!

Dr. Allen is a really sweet person but her test questions are harder than you would expect for a lower division psych class. You have to work a bit to get an A and the lectures can be really dull. Reading the textbook is more interesting than hearing her talk about the topics in class.

Dr. Allen is my favorite professor from my first semester. She is the sweetest person ever, really cares about her students, and wants to make sure everybody understands. She reminds me of an elementary school teacher because of her personality and teaching style. The intro psych tests aren't difficult but you should use the study guides given.

Allen runs her class based off of group projects. There is a lot of extra credit which is nice but as a professor she wasn't my favorite. The exams are all based off the study guides so don't study anything besides the study guides.

Dr. Allen is probably the best person to take Psy001 from. She is caring, straight-forward, and always willing to go out of her way to help you. She is AMAZING in her field and so she knows what she is talking about. The class outline is straight-forward and whatever you want to learn in psychology, she will help bring the topic up in lecture. :)

Interesting topic, but very heavy reading load. Found myself falling behind very easily. She's very passionate about the subject, and you will learn a lot.

I took psy30 and psy134 with her. She is very passionate about what she teaches. You are either scrambling to read a lot or not reading much at all. Tests are essay form and you have to cite sources. Quite difficult if you don't study, read, & take notes in class. The hardest thing is probably keeping up. She's really nice but not a pushover.

Took her class for social psychology. It was one of the most interesting classes I have ever taken. She is a tough grader though. I had great class participation during class discussions, ended up with an 89.5% and she would NOT round it up to an A...very frustrating!

Dr. Allen will help you as long as you ask for it regarding any aspect of class. Designing your own experiment helps you understand the thought that goes into experiments. All of the work piles up at the end of the semester so start early and you will be fine. As long as you put a genuine effort into your analysis you will do well.

The class is very interesting, but the first test caught me off guard, as to how difficult it was. Her tests are all essay and you have to cite exact experiements. I got a D on the first one, but an A on the second and the final (which was take-home). I'd suggest it if you're interested in it, but beware....you have to work a little bit!

Prof. Allen is nice, funny, helpful outside of & in class. The papers are kind of hard, take good notes cause you'll need them for two of the three papers. The textbook is written without everyday examples, so it doesn't explain some of the abstract ideas as well as it should. Allen helps break it down to be understandable, though. Very nice lady.
