I was told to avoid Dr. Mc Donald, but as you go up to higher levels classes, notorious hard professors are hard to avoid. Best professor I had in college. Still can remember what he taught me 35 years later!

If you are a finance major then you will be required to take this class with Dr.McDonald. If you are not a finance major, DO NOT take this class! There are 5 projects. Don't stess about being perfect or exact on the projects, he doesnt grade them very hard. The test are a diff story! You can find a few previous exams with google. Good luck!

350 characters does not due Dr. Mcdonald justice. If you go to UNT, you are doing yourself a disservice if you do not take Dr. M's classes. Teaches in a manner to where you truly gain understanding that will last a lifetime. If you want to get the most out of your education, put in the hard work and you gain a tremendous sense of accomplishment.

Difficult but Worthwhile. Likely the hardest course in the UNT Fina degree plan, but you'll learn more w/ McDonald than you will in all other Fina courses combined. Expect to learn A LOT, and be prepared to study A LOT for his exams. If you're serious about your finance degree then this prof should be MANDATORY. Great prep for grad-level classes.

You will have to study and hard for this class. The other comments are right, the grades are low. But sit in the front, participate, and go see him during office hours. Make sure he knows you and knows that you are trying. The projects are not easy but they will help your grade. And he grades easy on them. You will learn a lot!

He is a great teacher but it is a VERY hard class. Tests are essay style no multiple choice. Must memorize A LOT of material for each test. Avg test scores were in the 40-50's for my class. There are 5 projects that each take up a lot of time but if you do them and get full points it will help balance your test grades out.

Well, It was my first B at UNT, and I was thanking God for that B. I spent weeks studying for tests that I technically failed. Average test grade was like a 50. I wouldn't say that the material is hard, you are just overwhelmed with so much info, and YOU MUST MEMORIZE EVERYTHING! Even all the equations. This class nearly killed me. Very stressful!

he is one of the best teachers ive had at UNT. his class is not easy by any means, but he makes you understand finance, whether you want to or not. I am better for taking this class, but i do not recommend for the person seeking an A. you dont need book, jus dont miss class and DO NOT COME LATE! put on your adult pants or dont take his class

Most rewarding finance class that I took at UNT...very difficult but the amount learned is priceless. Do not buy the text book. To succeed you must go to class and takes notes exactly as he says - almost 100% of the test questions come straight from the notes. He is always willing to help students and is available at all time. Awesome professor!

4300 & 4310. Hes a VERY GOOD teacher. His class isnt easy but he lays out what he expects from the very beginning. You have to attend class to do good on the tests because he looks for word for word what he says in class -if you go, you'll do fine. Helpful if you go talk to him in class. If your late he doesnt give you the handouts. book is a maybe

Took 4300 as well as 4310 (5wk summer) with Dr. Mcdonald. If you are truly interested in learning finance, take as many classes with Dr. Mcdonald as possible. He is able to break down complex problems and make them very clear to understand.

3 tests 25% each (1/2 mult. choice, 1/2 problems), avg of 13 quizzes 25%. Homework every class, not graded but failure to turn in more than 4 results in a lowering of your grade (at his discretion), punctual attendance is mandatory (more than 2 tardies/absences and you're dropped you from the class). Decent teaching skills, but he belongs in a HS.

Dr. McDonald is the best professor in the Finance department in my honest opinion. His class is extremely challenging even for the brightest of students, but very fair. If you slack off in the slightest, your grade will reflect it. The class takes up A LOT of time, but you WILL learn from this man. Just do your part as a student, and you'll be fine

Makes you come to class everyday or he will fail you!! Be prepared for hard quizzes everyday of class that are mostly open ended. There is a lot of outside homework. Test are very hard and sometimes over 5 chapters or more with NO review! Do not recommend.

Took him over the summer. Be prepared to come to class daily and work very hard out of class, atleast in his summer class. I heard it was easier over a whole semester though. Nice guy that knows his stuff, but can be quite difficult if you fall behind.
