Comment:
He's very old school. He literally sees it as his job to make you come to class. You wouldn't think he's a university professor- he's definitely in more of a high school mindset. He won't allow any electronic devices in class which means you have to spend a ton of money on the books because he's so opposed to technology. Kind of ridiculous.

Comment:
Taber is extremely fascinated in philosophy and expects you to be as well. He genuinely is a good guy, but the class is a bit boring. If you don't do the readings, you will be so far behind in the discussions. He says participation isn't required, but gives assignments at the end of class so it kind of is. Overall an okay professor.

He is a nice easy-going guy, and easy grader. The material was a bit complex, but endurable. Get ready to do lots of reading! There are also lots of papers to do. One paper every week. You need to show up and actually read the material to pass. He also expects participation in group discussions as well so prepare for that. Overall, class was good.

John Taber is a anthropologist at best. Indian philosophy was anything but a philosophy course. This guy literally wrote no!!!! on my paper because he didn't agree with my interpretation of the text. He didn't give a reason just no. He is not open for discussion of his understanding of the text. He told us that quantum mechanics doesn't apply.

Comment:
Do not take Taber's class if you are a visual learner. Took a two and a half hour long lecture class and you have to print all of the (long) readings and bring them to class because he won't let you have anything out except for paper. No power points or any visual aid at all, which made this class hard to follow. Nice guy, but hard to follow.

Great person, very knowledgeable, very warm and friendly, very broad knowledge-base, inspiring, accurate but not overly critical, can deliver classes in fluent German and is also sought out in Europe.

John taber is the worst teacher ever. Do not take him you will seriously regret it. He has a attitude of a jerk and acts as if his class is a 400 level course, yets its only a 100 level course. He has quizes twice a week, essay format, on the smallest details from the readings. You have 30 seconds to answer it and they are detrimental to your grade

Taber is a weird guy. He makes this course pretty difficult for a 101 class. His TA Garrett is very nice and helpful. You need to attend class because he gives pop quizzes, so you must complete the assigned readings.

Horrible Professor!! Tried to make an excuse to drop me because I had knee surgery but I attended all of his classes so he just ended up barely passing me. Hard class for 101 level!!!

This class was a bit harder than most 101 classes but not really that bad. I wouldn't recommend it for a first semester freshman. Grade consists of 4 papers and 2 tests, with the lowest of the 6 dropped. The tests are EASY, but it's impossible to get an A on the papers. Attendance is pretty much mandatory to pass this class.

Prof. Taber is a really nice guy. Class is pretty much like any other lecture class, but more interesting. Taber is really helpful and wants you to understand material. Study reviews are very helpful. If you go to class and study a bit for the final you'll get a good grade. Attendence counted into your final grade. Ta's grade your papers!
