Online format. No book, online discussions. Not an easy course by any means. Quizzes included nearly impossible A's. Midterm was decent. Project was 30% of your grade and pretty vague. Not a ton of clarity in this course, but the Prof/TA were helpful if asked. Not a bad course, but not a great course either.

Great teacher. I had small class size with him in Beloit College zoology and he is very helpful and willing to explore topics with anyone who asks questions. Very smart, very helpful, awesome class.

AMAZING CLASS. incredibly difficult, but it is all worth it. the knowledge i gained from this class is amazing. joe says that you will do fine if you put the work in, and that is 100% true. j-skul is awesome.

Very funny, very smart, very interesting, and very talented. BUT! Do NOT take this class if you're just looking for an "easy online class." It's a 300-level class, and there's reading and lecture and it can be tough. Expect to work as hard as you would for any other 300-level course in the subject. Very fair, though.

Comment:

Fun class and even funnier comments (on the message board). The material is deep, but interesting. You definitely have to know your stuff. I've also taken Geo 333 with him and LOVED it! That class was a lot harder, but, in spite of the difficulty, even more fun (just be prepared for nit-picky details). Lectures are funny and you learn a lot! :)

The quizzes are very difficult AND I do all the readings. He tries to teach the whole hisotyr of the world in one course erroniously called "Dinosaurs" when it should be called "I am trying to skrew students who think this will be an easy online course." He does email, but with short, curt language!

He is a clear instructor and his class is not that hard. People complaining about his lack of clarity are just upset because they don't spend enough time reading the quizzes and do poorly. The wait for grade changes is Learn@UWs fault not his. In short the guy is funny and his classes are great.
