Comment:

I would recommend Professor Garcia to native Spanish speakers only. He is a hard marker who pays close attention to grammar and details. Classes will consist of taking up the homework rather than a lecture or explanation of the content. He will pass around a paper with student names beside homework questions instead of taking attendance.

He is one of the professors that you come across that sincerely cares about you! He is not there just because it is his job, he wants you to do well. At the beginning of each class he gives out a sheet with everybody's name beside one of the homework questions. You have to read your answer out loud to the class so I would say do your homework.

He is a nice person, and not a bad lecturer (though his classes would be much better if he used some sort of visual aid). However, his marking criteria are very unclear. If you are not a native Spanish speaker, get ready to be torn apart every time you write. Not very encouraging in terms of learning a language.

This teacher is absolutely amazing. I took SP2100, 3000 and 3300 with him and I wish he could teach everything. Very knowledgeable and helpful.

Loved him! Super approachable, helpful, and knowledgeable. Even if you're Spanish sucks, you feel comfortable speaking in it with him. A bit of a hard marker (his tests were quite long) with slow-paced classes; however, a great teacher. Class discussions were enjoyable, more so when he shared his stories. He's like a wise, cuddly grandpa.

A hard marker, but you feel like you really earned it when you get an A. Very nice, accessible, eager to help, and overall a great prof. He knows his subject matter very well although he can be slow in explaining. Class discussions are always interesting and so are the essay topics. You won't regret choosing him!

I always took other homework to do in this class. Extremely enthusiastic to the point of ignoring faults in grammar until pointed out by other students... fair but not an easy marker. He definitely tried to make the class as painless as possible, and was always really nice & understanding!

Great prof. Completely knowledgeable and interested about everything and doesn't read his notes. Very passionate, too. Fair marker and very patient when you're trying to make a comment or ask a question. He corrects you in a nice way and doesn't make you feel stupid. Great teacher and person...and I love his sweatervests! :)
