Comment:
Julie has a lot of passion about what she teaches. She is extremely straight forward with the syllabus and makes accommodations as the semester goes on. She relates whats going on in the world to physics and back to your daily life. This is not a traditional science course since it applies to social issues.

Julie was a great professor and she really cares about her students and wants them to move on. If you have a question, she will sit there with you until you fully understand the problem and she doesn't belittle you or make you feel dumb for asking a question, as other professors may.

She's a good professor and it is really easy to do well on her tests. She gives you all the test questions ahead of time and all the essay questions ahead of time. She grades pretty hard on the short answer, but that is because she expects you to do well since you have time to prepare for it.

I had Julie for Pre-College Math and she was very helpful. She would check in with you every week and was always available to answer questions about what expected of you and where you need to be. Most of the work was online using Aleks.

There are clicker quizzes that add a lot to the final grade, sometimes a whole class time is dedicated to the clicker quizzes. There were a lot of schedule changes and she did not always post the changes on D2L. The exams are fine if you take the online quizzes, the essays parts are hard if you do not know facts or know the subject well.

Needed to take this class to fulfill my physics credit for a college application, honestly her lectures are boring and unbearable and her essays were terrible. She's nice but not a very good teacher and gets sidetracked easily.

Essay questions you have to make a whole essay include structure. There are 8 essay questions (at least) and around 100 multi choice for per exam. Final will have all exams in it, what I mean is around 30 essays questions and 350 (at least) for multi choice questions. Good luck if you take this class.

I really liked Dr. Johnson. I was usually early for class, so I got to know her on a personal level. Not my favorite as a teacher, but I'm still glad I took her class. She can be a bit flustered (she also had a night class), but it was okay overall. The three exams that we took were each 19% of our grade, and the essay questions on them are hard.

I think Julie's a good teacher. She is very helpful on assignments, giving students the ability to ask questions for the homework that she'll do right there on the board. Tests can be tough but if you study the homework and lab manual they're doable. She's more than willing to help you if you go to her office. Attendance affects grade so show up.

Julie Johnson is perhaps the worst professor or instructor I have ever had in my entire life. Instead, when she bothers to come to class, she makes a point out of threatening her students, asking them to ask questions, and taking personal offense that students had the audacity to inquire. There may be service learning for extra credit, take it.

Julie is a knowledgeable professor who really tries to get you to succeed. She would go over homework problems before they were due and give you ample time to complete them. Tests were a bit difficult and included information from the labs so make sure to study those as well. She is very open to helping people if they are struggling.

I feel like was I only being taught half the lesson and always had to go back and ASK to be taught the other half. Also, it seems like most of the class is homework, as in we go over everything in class, which is necessary because this is when you ask for the other half of the lesson.

Ms. Johnson speaks with a clear voice, but is easily frustrated by lack of participation and understanding. The coursework is above easy, but she makes it seem hard. She wrote her own textbook/workbook and it covers basics. In order to get an A, have a good attitude! That's what counts. Make sure you show your work or you will fail.

She is a really nice lady, but a terrible teacher. Sometimes she assumes that you know all of the background information that she knows. If you're going to take this class, PRINT OFF ALL OF THE READING QUIZZES. Most of the test questions are straight off of those.

She was a very nice person, talked to me a few times one on one- was interested in helping me do well, although could never remember my name. Smart lady, but the lectures are very difficuly to take notes to and the tests are VERY hard.

Disappointing class overall. Julie is a nice lady, but seriously needs to reevaluate her class/test structure. I learned a lot, and the material isn't impossible, but it's a lot of learning on your own, and not a lot of guidance and 'teaching'. I got away with a B, but a lot of people I know did a lot worse than that.

She is a terrible test giver. You do all her online quizzes, readings and still get an F on her tests. I would think that if a teacher has an average class score of 65% they would re-evaulate her teaching and she doesn't. Don't waste your money on this class you will gain nothing from it.

She is a nice person, but she is a bad teacher. On her test, the class average was 60% on all of the 3 test we took so far. When i asked her about this, she said that a 60% is normal for all her class. The book and notes don't help. We also had to take a online quiz everyday. the tests are 53% of the grade.

Very difficult, way more work and web use than the class is worth. She shows up unprepared and spends ridiculous amounts of time on useless topics like extra credit, and if north is straight up in the air.

She is really a good teacher. She does what she can to help her students, but some people just dont get it. Thats not her fault. Johnson has a great sense of humor. I would recommend her to anyone. Plus Astronomy is really an amazing subject... really gets you thinking about how amazing life is.
