Comment:

I think the syllabus comments here were TERRIBLY unfair! Prof. Hecht is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate! The class follows at a very easy pace. She cares a lot for her students and was available for me every step of the way even after hours! Any changes to the syllabus were so minor! We only have two papers! Taking her class AGAIN FOR SURE!

Comment:

One of the most disorganized professors I've ever had. Wonderful woman who is willing to work with and help her students, But changes her syllabus almost every week, which is infuriating. And still insists on everything being paper copy only, so prepare to use a printer. Again, very nice but very disorganized.

Comment:

Ms. Hecht is a really poor communicator. She is always changing the syllabus and never sticking to it. I also found it really difficult to learn the grammar lessons. She made it confusing. There was almost always something due in class. And she sometimes would call students out in class for wrong answers or incomplete assignments.

I love her I have her for college writing and am taking research writing with her. I don't like writing but I'm learning a lot in her class and am doing well. There is a decent amount of work but it worth it.

I highly regretted taking this class. The syllabus was constantly changed, there was a paper or reading due almost every single class. I felt like it was that high school class you dread going to. She's also pretty sarcastic and it comes off as rude quite often. Outside the classroom she's a nice person, but I would never take another class w/ her

Ms. Hecht changed the syllabus almost every class, which is frustrating to say the least. If you take her, don't work ahead. She also called out and made fun of students who did not do well on papers, causing them to feel bad about their writing or their grammar. Don't take her if you aren't confident in your writing.

Ms. Hecht is very passionate about what she teaches; however, she does not often bring her students to that same appreciation. I often felt as if I had come between her and her first love - fiction literature - when I participated in class discussions about either works or authors. I agree that the focus on proper MLA formatting was too excessive.

She knows her stuff for sure, but as a senior in Lit. class she devoted 2 class periods on MLA style. I mean seriously... I understand not everyone knows that, but in a senior-level class... That's absurd. For the most part, she's controlling and treats it as if it were a high school class, which I and others found mostly annoying.

I had Ms. Hecht for two classes and then as my advisor for the newspaper. Under her guidance, I learned so much about writing and editing. She is excellent in her field and is also very warm and fun.

I always had thought that English was a breeze...until I failed her class. She had me take the class again (and told me to apply myself a bit more) and I made a B the 2nd time through. Thanks, Miss Hecht. That was 15 years ago and I still remember what I learned in your class.

Hi Ms. Hecht. You're a great teacher.One of the best of the best! I graduated in 2001, but I'm still reaping from the seeds you sowed in my life.
