This class is quirky. Not for a newbie. You don't have traditional textbook. must be a self motivated learner. I could have done better in this class if I had listened to her and done what she asked. I did, however, learn to research and focus my ideas. And a ton of stuff about Ireland too!

This lady loves her field. Take her class, you'll love her field too! I am so happy I took Intro, it helped me look at stuff differently. Not just about Ireland, she gets you to really look at stuff.

This class was kinda strange. No real textbook, handouts, books in library, movies, but if you go to class, listen and participate, Nolan will bend over backwards to help you. Pass things in early to get help with format and info if you want. She emails you back within a day, and offers all kinds of help. I hope she gets hired on full time.

loved, loved, LOVED this class! movies, a short novel, some poetry, folksy crafts, cartoons, paintings, music, photography and more. All to learn about Irish culture. Man, you can't get much better than that! I highly recommend taking this course. Porf. Nolan will help you get the best mark you are capable of getting!

Comment:

A lot of archeology and anthropology & history in this class. If you don't like rocks, get notes. It's on the exam. I'd have liked more culture stuff. The prof is helpful. Don't miss class, talk a bit, pass things in on time & you will get a great mark. She's fair, quite funny, & genuinely cares. She'll work with you as much as you work with her.

This is a multi-subject class. going is important. Lorraine will help you if you go to class and do the work she asks of you. She is hard in her marking, but if you get stuff in on time, she'll give you a chance to better the mark... she's fair, fun, and very very funny. I recommend this class, if you are interested in Ireland at all.

Lorraine is one of the most wonderful people I've met. A great professor, loves not only her subject but her students as well. She wants you to learn and be interested in what you're learning, which is why you get to create your own textbook. Extremely approachable, extremely intelligent, extremely HILARIOUS. Also spoils you rotten!

This class is not easy. No text book; very interdisciplinary. Lorraine compensates by being approachable, thorough & caring. She knows her stuff and its worth the time it takes to learn how to approach such a different course structure. If you fee like challenging yourself, and want some support doing it, this is the class for you! fantastic I say!

I LOVE Lorraine! Her sense of humour makes class all that much more fun. She is definitely interested in her subject, which makes it more enjoyable to learn from her. Also, completely spoils you rotten - Xmas Pizza party, drinking with Irish bands...it's great! Genuinely cares about each student doing well...very organized, knows what she is doing!

Complain about movies which were only half of any class AND subject specific? Option 2:GO THERE! GREAT class, learned LOTS about architecture, fine arts, food; and both the good and the bad of Irish culture; she did not sugar coat...She gives you TOOLS, and if people want to be spoon fed education, go to a nursery school.
