Originally I wasn't sure about this class & was confused by the weekly readings. After talking to her in class and in office hours, she clarified the content more. The class was mostly lectures based on weekly readings and videos. I learned a lot of interesting content She was the most understanding professor on COVID 19 and online classes.

20th century american lit is such an easy class, but we literally do nothing in the class. It is a waist of time, but at least it does not waist your time with homework

Pros: There wasn't a lot of work for this class and grading was quite easy. Watched numerous interesting films. Helpful and clear in office hours. Cons: Has limited office hour times, not good at explaining complex readings, discussion is way too random.

Professor Harri is wonderful! She really gets us involved and although the writing workload was not too heavy, there was a fair amount of reading. The discussion based atmosphere was great because she is so open to and about interpretation. Highly recommended Professor!

Comment:

Laura Harris is extremely helpful. This class was amazing! In this class we have read a variety of African-American literature. She gives a good background which is helpful. A lot of group presentations and a few two page papers on some readings but her class is completely worth it. I highly recommend her!

Harris is an amazing prof. She may not always show up or even discuss the readings but she is always teaching something she thinks is important. I love that the course does't have to stick to the original structure but some people in the class complained about it. She's an easy grader if you actually try plus sound interested in the material.

Quite possibly one of the least challenging and most boring classes I have ever taken. This course's curriculum will not be helpful to anyone who intends to pursue studies in literature, but if you're looking for an elective with little to read and less reason to show up in class, then by all means enroll in one of her classes.
