Comment:

I love Dr. Apenahier as a person, but his teaching skills could really use some work. Instead of teaching, he talks about himself a lot and doesn't elaborate unless you ask a lot of questions. That being said, his classes aren't the worst- if you read the textbook, you'll do fine.

Comment:

Dr. Apenahier prepared me for University level research. I took the research methods class at LASC. Now that I look back I am thankful for this class. As I continued my path now at a University with the knowledge I gained from this class I have the skills to complete my educational journey. He truly cares about his students being "prepared" at LASC

This is the 2 Psych class I take with him and I can't complain. I have learned to teach myself and its worked out fine so far. The slides are very important so take notes and study those for the exams. We did pres' and mini report which was really easy and fun. Just take him, not like theres other teachers lol u dont need book but I recc. for test

Comment:

Really dry and boring lecturer, slides are pretty straight forward so can't complain about that, it really is hard to focus during class as the material is not presented in a very dull and boring manner. I am a Psych. major and this professor really turned Psych. into a dull subject when it should be one of the most interesting subjects.

He's alright. He uses slides so take notes on them(he allows pics of the board). Everything thats on the slides is def on the exams. U dont really need the book but it's online. U should review what he teaches, as long as u know the terms, you can pass the exams. His grading for exams are simple, always MC. Never gives hw.

I took this class in the summer, was a bit nervous due to the bad reviews which to my surprise were all quite wrong. Yes, this class requires a lot of studying, however the professor does a good job in letting you know what will be on the exam. A lot of terminology. I suggest taking him if youre not lazy.

One of the best professors I've ever had. First day I was skeptical as he had a heavy accent, but after a week I grew accustomed to it. He is actually very funny if you pay attention and don't come to class with an attitude like many peers who eventually dropped did. Lecture notes are about 95% of exams, so study them and you get your A! :)

All I can say is read, read, read. The test are mostly off the book, but there will be some questions that are from his lectures. Pay attention to the notes he writes on the board. Ask if you can't read his writing, I know it's bad. Overall he will work with you, and wants you to do well. Good luck!

Professor Apenahier is one of the best instructors at Southwest. If you are an apt student, you will LOVE his class. His knowledge and deep concerns for student success is awesome. Be attentive and respect his energy - you will recognize his charm and love of teaching and you will be inspired to strive for more than a passing grade.

Dr. Apenahier knows his material but does not know how to teach, sitting behind a desk and skipping through power points is not teaching; he does not explain his material properly. He has poor interaction skills with his students. It is very hard to understand him with his heavy accent and does not speak loud enough so you can hear him.

Dr. A is a tough teacher but he will only teach you on what he goes over. He is only there for students who are serious and he does give extra credit when you take the test on time. You will have to read or at least have his notes and its best to form a study group or to see the tutor.

Taking psychology 1 with this professor made me stressed out. He is very difficult to understand and hardly explain the concepts. When you ask him to explain a subject he may tell you to read it and just know the stuff before the next coming exam. His exams are hard, he usually puts examples as his questions. So you have to grasp on the concept.

He only test on what he goes over. He gives you everything you need to pass. I took him over the summer and I felt the class was easy. I just paid attention and made copies of the slides. There is only a need to study for about 10 minutes a day. The test are made uniquely to what he lectures.

I learned a lot in his class. He likes to crack himself up. The class is a serious course, but he makes it enjoyable. He is an expert and always tries to inspire you to do better in your studies and life.

Dr. A is the best! His lectures are so thought provoking but fun at the same time. Many times we would be in the class cracking up. He doesn't play when it comes to getting work done. He is very helpful but expects you to apply yourself. I took him in the summer so had to take exam every week on 5 ch, very intense. I got an A but worked for it.

Dr. Apenahier is one of those teachers who only seriously helps those that are looking to be challenged. His upper psych levels involve difficult essay-structure answers, so be prepared. He gives bonus points and extra credit only IF he see's you trying for his psych 1 classes. Studying in this classes is mandatory if you wish to succeed.

Difficult teacher! His tests are all essays no scan-trons.You have to write your own summary of a newspaper article that pertains to what your learning. Nice, but sense of humor is corny.take someone else if you can.
