Honestly, she is one of my favorite art history professors in the department at Rollins. This class is definitley a lot of sitting in the dark looking at works of art. That's art history. She is also sarcastic and snarky, which, trust me, is wanted after looking at some of this artwork. If you show up and listen, passing should be no problem.

I am not sure why other reviewers think Professor Boles is unfair. If you show up to class, do your work, and take notes during her lecture you will do fine. On the other hand if you're lazy and want to do nothing you OBVIOUSLY wont be happy. She was not my favorite professor but she is not horrible. I got and A and I have never taken art history.

Comment:

Boles is a pretty decent professor. She does not sound too intelligent when she speaks, but she actually does know what she is talking about. I have little complaints towards her. Her midterm was iffy, and she is an odd duck, but if you study and show up to class you should pass.

Sticks to her syllabus but you learn a lot from attending (!!) class and reading the book. when people do not read the book or stop attending class she gives pop quizzes you can't make up. But she is one of the better professors who is pretty relaxed.

I can't believe all the bad things I have read about her! She's absolutely great: funny, knowledgeable, approachable, smart. Yes, her tests are tough and you definitely need to study hard, but if you do you are rewarded. I never ONCE thought she discriminated against anybody. On the contrary, I found her very open-minded.Great professor!!!

I am so lucky that I had prior knowledge of the subject matter before I took Boles' class. She says nothing of consequence. She tries to be funny, but when you're a frustrated student, she's not amusing. I'm used to professors that actually analyze artwork and know what they're talking about. She didn't even bother showing up to our final exam.

The only thing this teacher knows how to do is immensely waste class time. She never even showed up for our final exam. I did not learn anything in this class and had to use the book to take all my notes notes seeing as the teacher says hardly anything substantial or important in class.

I took her class at UCF. She was unqualified to teach non-western, didn't show up for her baroque final, and sent sarcastic emails out when we complained about the unfairness of her midterm and the fact that over half the class failed. Idiotic, immature, and slovenly. Deserved to be fired, and then punished us for it.

I love her!! Her class is challenging but a lot of fun. If you ask questions, she answers and she is always willing to help. I don't always agree with her opinions, but I find her very entertaining! Definitely glad i took it!

Her class was a bit confusing at first (it was my first art history class). However, after one gets up to speed it becomes very interesting. She goes over everything in class and we never had to bring the books to class. Take good notes and you should be fine (a laptop makes it easier as she goes fast!). She makes the class lots of fun!

This class was required otherwise I would have never lasted. You sit in a dark room and look at slides for hours. She has a tendency to drone on and on and was a bit of a smart ass. This class should not be required and her tests were too difficult for the course level.

It is NOT an easy class! She does hate you a) if you're attractive 2) if you've had her husband in class and he didn't like you 3) if you are smart. Study hard for her tests. Her tests are on materials covered in class. She lies about what is on her test--so study everything covered in every possible way. She grades papers very tough. Be careful!

Professor Boles is very disarming, funny, and is real cool. She is like one of the students. Yes, her test are NOT that easy, but she tells u what to expect on the test. There is alot of Names, dates, location, etc to remeber for her test; but as long as you write something down, she gives you credit. Just do what she says and you will do fine.

Thought she was great at first because she is funny. But, she could not pronounce half of the artist's names. Her expectations are totally unrealistic - grading is arbitrary - especially if you are an attractive girl! I would not recommend her she can be very sarcastic tons of dates to memorize
