Comment:
Dr. Ming is very nice, but not super great at communicating expectations. Most of your learning will be out of class. If you are not a particularly strong chemistry and physics student, I would advise staying away from this course. If this is required, then you should go to his office hours and develop a professional relationship with him for help.

Dr. Ming is the worst professor in the USF chemistry department. He is a very nice guy and is aware of how extremely hard this class is, but when I met him in office hours he straight up told me he's not teaching for us to learn inorganic but to help us learn higher education practices. There are 3 exams, 60% of grade final 40% of the grade.

Dr. Ming is by far the worst professor I have ever had. While he is extremely knowledgeable and a very nice guy, he is terrible at teaching. He will often get off track during lecture, only cover 1 slide, fidget with his hands to try to explain things, and repeat the same thing 15 different ways that do not make sense.

Comment:
By far the worst experience I've had at USF. Dr. Ming's lectures make absolutely no sense. He vaguely discusses the idea, but quickly gets off track. He may be on 1 slide for half the class and barely speak about the content of the slide. He tries to use his hands to help the students visualize what he's talking about, but that fails miserably.

Comment:
Dr. Ming is a great person but SHOULD NOT be teaching this class. Inorganic Chemistry itself is an extremely challenging course and Dr. Ming only makes it worse. His lectures are like 85% off-topic rants and 15% inorganic chemistry. The questions on his tests come directly from that 15% of inorganic chemistry. There's a curve but it doesn't help..

Dr. Ming is a AWESOME! If you read the material before class, are prepared/pay attention in lectuers, do the hwk and STUDY, you'll do great. He's willing to help, but expects you to THINK for yourself. No, he's not going to just pass you. Yes, you have to work for your grade. It's Chem, not underwater basket weaving. It's SUPPOSED to be challenging

He is the worst professor I have ever taken. It is basically storytime in his class and he doesn't teach you anything that he tests you on. I had to watch videos to teach myself the material, and I still was not successful. He curves the class, but it honestly doesn't help very much because it is still difficult to pass. DO NOT TAKE HIM!

Dr. Ming is an interesting character and funny guy but unfortunately he should not be teaching. His lectures are very hard to understand and follow and that it without the accent (which is not that bad). Unless it is a requirement for your major, DO NOT waste you're time, money, or gpa on this class (i say class not prof because he is the only one)

Dr. Ming is an extremely nice guy but he has no business lecturing a class of undergraduates. Dr. Ming simply can't convey the tough topics in Inorganic Chemistry. He tries to use simple analogies, but they end up making the material more difficult. He lectures on symmetry the entire semester. Save your time, frustration, and grade. Don't bother!!

Worst professor in my 4 years at USF. He is understandable, but is incapable of completing a single thought without wandering through whatever he feels like talking about that particular day. I have spent days looking up this material elsewhere to learn. Wish I had read some of these comments prior to taking this class. You have been warned

Only randomly takes attendance, goes off topic for completely irrelevant reasons, and basically turns the lecture into a giant waste of time. Read the textbook and do the online homework if you want to learn anything.

Very difficult material made nearly impossible to digest by a teacher with poor teaching skills. Doesn't take his job seriously either. He comes to class late, and at one point he and the TA simply never showed up to class without any email or announcement made beforehand. Avoid him if you can.

Dr. Ming is a brillinat researcher. But that is the crux of the problem. He is a researcher, not a teacher. He is really very funny and helpful but his teaching skills are almost nonexistent. If you do not have at least a moderate background in chemistry, DO NOT TAKE HIM! Plus, The TA is condescending and snarky, and just as incoherent.

Heres the breakdown: READ THE BOOK. he gives slides but u must read the book to understand them. tests are hard and theres a lot of questions in a lil amount of time. they are open notes though, which is good. ta is nice u can earn xtra points but if u dont have good study habits then dont take the class. hes more into real life applications.

AWFUL. He makes this intro class wayyyyy too hard! He expects students to know sooo much about chem prior to this class. You have to read all chapters prior to coming to class and if you have a question he makes you feel so stupid for asking. He is very rude to students as well if they show up late or if they are doing something he doesnt like.

He is a horrible professor and half the time what he is saying isn't relevant to class. TA is rude and gives random quizzes on stuff Ming didn't even talk about. OWL HW assignments take hours and website is extremely slow. Only good thing is he lets you use notes on test and has an awesome grading scale.

Hard to understand and takes attendance randomly. Expect to teach yourself. Either way, gen chem 1 is not extremely hard in and of itself, plus you get a 'small session' once a week for relatively easy points. Moderate effort gets you a B, but an A is not so easy.

I finished this class with an A, but I studied my... off. Stayed in lib. late with friends and ask everyone to help. He changes his style every semester. However for us, he picked up questions from the tests to find the right answers and then added the points to our test's grade. Final test was straight from the 4 exams with a little change.

This professor is by far the hardest professor since I started going to college. However, he is very nice if you talk to him outside of the classroom. For those who say you can't understand him because of his broken english are wrong. His english is understandable. What he doesn't know what to do is explain the material well. I got a B+ in his clas
