I took his Economics class at FIU in 1985, and to this day, I believe he is among my two best professors I ever had, even in Grad School. I got a C-. Never forgot him. Take his class at Nova U if you can.

I wish i can tell you how many hours i studied and how much i thought i knew his work and all the information i put on the paper front and back. It seemed like i really know what I was talking about and I got a C-. C- cannot pass this course. I can't imagine a Professor failing students who apparently have studied to pass this course. Disappointing

Take this class if you are interested in learning about Economics, not if you are concerned about your GPA. His expectations are extremely vague, and his tests are the hardest I've ever taken, but his lectures are PRICELESS! Take your time on the paper, he offered us incompletes, but no one took him up on it, and we all suffered.

DO NOT BE FOOLED!! yes his tests are not easy, and you do not use the books. the answers to the test are given from class lectures. He gives a review the week previous to the exam. on that review you can pretty much tell what is it that you should study, I got a D- on my first test and ended uo passing the class with a B.

Not worth it. Yes, he knows his stuff and the lectures are very clear. However he does not give you a fair chance at passing. The most incomprehensible grading policy ever, only 2 tests, essay type, and topics can be randomly picked by him, so you have no shot. Class had 100 students, not a single one had an A. Take somebody else.

He explains the material very well in class and answers all questions. That being said, his tests are very difficult and long. The midterm was 21 questions with multiple parts to each question. You also have to write a 15 page economics paper which he gives you little guidance on how to write it. If you are late to a class he won't let you in.

Hard professor, tests come directly from his lectures. His tests are long;the final was 26 questions, all of them essay style. Good Lecturer, you will learn if you study and take notes.

This Prof. is horrible do not take the class with him his lectures are long and boring. The tests are two exams with essay questions that basically may cover any random material he goes over. If u are not majoring in economics run. He will not help and doesn't answer questions well just run you will definitely waste your money if u take him

I do not understand these poor reviews. Chances are these people are lazy and terribly unintelligent. This man is by far one of the best professors I have ever had in college. Obviously don't expect the course to be easy, but his effectiveness in teaching this material is outstanding. People ask why he is sill teaching. I as why he settles for FIU.

This professor is by far one of the best lecturers ever! If you are a Finance/Economics major you HAVE to take him. People fail and do not like his clas because they have no clue about Economics and think they can just get by at the University level. This class is for serious students who want to learn. Don't be late and study hard!

By far one of the best lectures I have ever had. I have never had to learn or study as hard as this in my entire college career. It is nearly impossible to pass. You will learn a lot, but bust your ass trying to pass. The testing and the grading is the most retarded thing I have ever seen. 2 essay exams, and credit is divided, stupid...

Do not take the class with this professor he is horrible and boring. Your grade is based on 2 essay tests which may cover any topic in his lectures. His reviews are also pointless. Just stay away from him.

DO NOT TAKE ECO3202 WITH MANUEL CARVAJAL!!! your grade is based on 2 essay question tests with no way of doing extra credit work for this lectured class that you receive zero handouts in.IN ALL HIS LECTURES HE STUDDERS AND IS ALWAYS SAYING UHH, EHH UHH SO ITS HARD TO FOLLOW.

Ruined my GPA. Class is impossible, more than 1/2 the class failed. Test are essay type... unfair grading. I don't understand how he is still teaching at FIU.
