Greet teacher! Took for her Spanish 101 & Spanish 102. Very patience and willing to help. Give a lot of homework but it will def help you study. Attendance is important. She give a lot of office hours and very generous with grading.

Dr. Ryan-Sams is AMAZING. She's super sweet and caring of her students. She's really helpful with Espanol. She does grade a little heavy on things, so make sure to study for Spanish as much as possible.

Comment:

I came into this class knowing a lot about Spanish already so I didn't have a hard time. I disliked the assignments from the book, I disliked having to participate in Spanish, and I disliked working in groups and speaking with them in Spanish. However, it was just an annoyance, nothing was difficult. Take her if you want an easy A.

Ryan-Sams was very good in her 201 course and I recommend taking her if possible. She was extremely caring about her students with constant reminders. Make sure to study for exams and do assignments and it is an easy A.

If you generally get good grades this class should be really easy. She outlines every test/quiz before you take them so you know everything that's on them. She forces class participation which can be annoying at times, shes kind of quirky and hard to read. At times she seems strict about weird things, yet lenient about important stuff. Overall easy

I failed Spanish in high school but while taking her class I started to enjoy the subject. She gives a lot of homework but she gives you everything you need before the homework is due. She is nice and an easy grader. I would recommend.

I would recommend this teacher for Spanish 101 and 102. She is very helpful. She do give a lot of hw but she give you worksheets that have the answers to everything you are currently working on. Give a lot of extra credit. She have tutoring hours after class everyday. She is very patience and willing to work with you until you understand.

She is overall a nice person. However she is horrible at teaching. If you ask her a question she gives you a round about answer. She doesn't help you form sentences and expects you to know how to do it. Even though we attend class some of the content we have to learn we learn on our own she doesn't teach it. Not very helpful when you ask for help.

She is a great choice for Spanish 102. If you come to class and pay attention, then the tests will be simple and the vocab isn't difficult to remember because she practices in class. She does force conversation with partners and in class but after a while it was normal and actually helped get comfortable with speaking. She is also super nice.

Comment:

She's a good natured professor, and she is really intelligent. She tries to be flexible, but I think she was too flexible and I felt that the unmotivated students took advantage of her for that. I rarely used the textbook, but I participated, payed attention, and got an A. It helped that I had up to Spanish 3H in high school, though.

Ryan-Sams is not "easy" unless you let her be. If you took 102 and paid attention and do the same in 102, you're golden. Tests are on exactly what she teaches, the HW seems annoying and hard but it's a minuscule amount of your grade. Quizzes are easy 100's and boost your grade. Seriously take this woman, she's phenomenal.

Probably the worst Spanish teacher in the whole department. She is extremely scatter brained and confusing and gives homework like theres no tomorrow. Also she considers a 25 question exam a "quiz" and has unrealistic expectations for participation. I would NEVER recommend taking her and I have been though just about every teacher in the department

I haven't taken spanish since I was in high school, and I failed spanish in high school. Ryan-Sams is a super easy teacher. Everything was clear cut, and all exams and quizzes were super easy! You don't have to always go to class, but she docks points. I missed nine classes total and she only docked 5 points.

I really liked her. She stayed after class and even before to help me. Her oral really wasn't hard and she helps you out for the most part. Her exams aren't bad as long as you study, and do the review packet. I honestly do recommend her.

She gives amazing study guides for all Exams. Lots of opportunities for extra credit points. Lots of quizzes to boost your grade. She isn't alway clear, but if you read the book and do the study guides you should be golden.

Avoid her is possible. Not terrible, but just super confusing. She's really scatter-brained. If you love Spanish, you'll be frustrated because she doesn't teach you anything!! All she does is hop randomly from topics from a workbook. She's very unclear in her assignments. Go to class, though, participation is 25% of the grade.
