Comment:

Melanie is a seemingly nice prof. In class, she doesn't clearly tell you when there is homework and makes it extremely difficult to find where she has the homework posted. She is good about giving extensions, but overall the negatives outweigh the positives. She gets on a lot of students nerves. Would not recommend but sometimes you have no choice.

Comment:

Collado is a great teacher. She really takes her time to dissect the material that was studied in class and makes sure everyone understand the concepts. However, she is an extremely tough marker, especially on essays. Participation is really important in her class (you get graded on it) and she will randomly call on students so be prepared.

AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS IF POSSIBLE! Hands down the worst french Prof i've ever had. Patronizing and calls students out in front of the class when she can see they are struggling. Is unclear in how she is marking you(only puts half of your grades online and then you don't even get half of them back, just get your letter grade at the end).

This class is a big jump from 2001. She grades a lot harder and expects a lot from you. It's important to go to class and participate or you'll be lost. She's very picky when she grades tests as well

Comment:

Melanie makes the class very interactive. She always calls on people to answer questions, which isn't always fun but it helps in the long run. A fair amount of homework but a lot of it is online and it is easy to do. Would definitely recommend this class with her to people. I did fine and I did all my homework the night before and didn't study

She really cares about her students. Practice a lot of activities and you will do fine on the quizzes. She tells you in advance what is on the tests. Know that and you'll be set. Going to class will definitely help you succeed.

Dr. Collado is a great prof. Loved all the classes that I have taken with her so far (2850, 3200, 4001). She makes you work for it, but it is so rewarding in the end. Studying for her classes is hard but not impossible!

Very easy class. Always willing to go over verbs moviesreadings that are unclear, her expectations are easy to achieve. Projects are a little immature but she tries to mix things up.

Do NOT like this prof. I don't like her style of teaching this course. She gives you homework for days that you don't even class with her, and expects you to correct other students' work, and attend activities outside of class hours (so if you have a part time job, or even other classes...) She is nice enought but very disorganized as well.

Good professor. Attempts to explain things clearly to you, and is available after class or in office hours. I probably found this class easier since I went to Quebec on an exchange. Overall great prof!

Melanie is a kind person with high expectations. The lectures are always clear and she is willing to take the extra time to help students understand concepts. Be sure to do your readings on time, keep your cellphone out of sight and you'll do great in this class.

Comment:

Very clear instruction and explanation of introductory French. She was always willing to help explain concepts, even if that meant not getting through the material she had prepared for the day. Tests were exactly what was expected from previous classes, and she always gave a list of what to study. Excellent and incredibly beautiful professor.

Comment:

She is a nice person, and tries to help people understand and use correct grammar. However, her teaching method did not agree with me. I found that most of the time, we were expected to learn the concepts entirely from the textbook, and they never were covered clearly in class. I ended up skipping class and just reading the textbook instead.

Melanie is very nice and sweet but she goes through the material very quicky, and if you don't understand, she really doesn't care.. The class is hard, and the tests are hard too, make sure you study. I would not like to take a class with her again.

She is a very approachable teacher, who wants to help you. But she is a super hard marker and a grammair natzi. Make sure on youre tests that you answer the question she is asking and make sure youre written skills are perfect. I would take this class with someone else so that i could get a better grade. Not an easy GPA booster!!

She is a good teacher. Her class can occasionally get a little dry, but what you learn in this class is a tad boring. She is helpful, as long as you ask. Make sure to do your homework because she will call on you in class unexpectedly. Her quizzes are straightforward and easy as long as you have done the homework.
