What a great professor! She is a first grade teacher as well, so really gives great information and techniques for future teachers. I Learned more in her class than any other at MSU. Definitely take her if you can!

GREAT PROFESSOR!!! Very easy to get through the class, she explains everything and truly cares about her students and the subject. 1 book review, 10 journals, involvement project and many in class assignments. Class attendance is mandatory as well as participation. Go to class, do the work, and get an A. Simple as that!!

I took her diverse families class. SHe is a great teacher. There is no text book, instead you buy a $5 parent manual. It is very helpful. There are a few small assignments, she grades on effort. She knows so much & gives great insight and tips on being a teacher. I have learned so much. Its not a boring class, i strongly reccomend it!

She expects a lot from her students and the assignments can be time consuming but as long as you show up to class, participate and hand in the assignments on time, you will get an A. She is very helpful with tips and suggestions and let us leave early every single class. I would definitely recommend her.

She is very boring at times and gives a lot of busy work, but the class is not hard. She is an easy grader and if you show up and participate you will do good in this class. She also shares her experiences in the classroom with her students so that they will be better prepared when we enter the work force. If you email her don't expect a reply.

She is the most boring teacher i ever had!U better not mis class, she would try to cheat out of ur grade!i thought i was passing with A but she end up giving me a C!im filling a grade dispute!She like talking about her second grade class! i dont see how she became a professor!Her lectures are boring! the work is easy!there are no test! HORRIBLE communicator. I would NEVER bash any teacher at MSU, because i work super HARD in all my classes to recieve my 4.0. DONT try emailing her or getting any type of "help" because you wont get ANYYYYYYYYY. She is of NO help, and i dont care HOW many times shes taught the class. If it wasnt for my scholarship, i would have already withdrawn.

The class is boring to begin with. If you go to class every time, and hand in all assignments you can get at least a C-. Biggest problem about her is that she is very unclear about assignments and NEVER GETS BACK TO YOU! A warning to those looking to take her; if you need clarification and you send an e-mail, don't bother looking for a response.

Few assignments, class attendence mandatory to do well. Spends more time talking about herself as an educator than how to work with families. Unhelpful when clarifying assignments. If you are able to currently hold a conversation with an adult, then she is of no help to you. I'm getting a B in the class, not worth taking it with her.

Don't get me wrong, Melissa is a very nice person. If you do the work, you will get an A. However, her story-telling is a bit over the top. If u can sit through it, go for it. Probably better than the majority of MSU professors teaching in this field.

she's a good professor but not a saint like everyone is making her out to be. some bad things (since no one posted any)- some lectures get boring (but most arent), gives a lot of busy work, some in-class assignments are childish, the assignments that take the most work count the least, attendence is mandatory, and she wont accept late work at all.

Melissa is a GREAT teacher! She is so helpful and gives so many great tips that I know I will use when I'm a teacher. She really went out of her way to help us in any way she could. I would definitely take her! I took this class post-session and it was great!
