Melissa Tafoya is incredible. She is definitely one of those professors that changes your life, both personally and academically. If you can just follow the syllabus there is no way you should not get an A. She is incredibly easy to understand & she makes every class extremely worth while. I have been to many schools and treasure her role at ASU.

Strict. She cant stop moving her hands and arms around and its really distracting. But go to class. If you do a little reading before the exam youll pass no problem. This class is no cake walk but its really not hard either.

Her mannerisms are a bit annoying. She pretty much just reads off the powerpoints during lecture. At first she might seem a bit harsh, but her grading is fair. Assignments are also a bit confusing. She would "clear" things up several times and left the students even more confused. Read the book for your midterm and final and you will be fine.

She is an ok instructor, her body movements are a distraction, her assignments are graded heavily, attend class because of in class activities counted as a grade, and you lose points on your grade if you are using inappropriate technology meaning on cell phone or surfing the web on computer. Overall I wouldn't say she is too well of an instructor

Dr. Tafoya creates powerpoint slides for her lectures, but her lectures are not well structured and they are difficult to understand. Her facial expressions are very distracting and she does not give clear instructions on papers even though they are heavily graded. She's a funny person, but I wouldn't recommend her as a good instructor.

She made the class so simple. If you attended class most of the material was laid out for you. Her homework was easy, and her quizzes were simple if you read the text. I had some friends though that found most of the answers using the index. The tests were a little more difficult but not impossible to get a 100% on. Just pay attention to vocab.

Attendance=IMPORTANT, many in-class activities/stories earns points. She makes it seem like the class is a breeze & stresses that you get the grade you EARN yet tests & exams are very hard & nothing like the notes which btw are non stop every day. Her voice is painful to listen to & everyone just makes fun of her tongue expressions. Save yourself!!

She's a woman who knows her stuff. You'll realize this once you get past her mannerisms. Definitely a strong personality. The more you resist and less she is willing to work with you. She expects the best from you, and she expects you to have common sense. Come to class, take notes, read. If you put effort , it will show. I'd take her

She is really nice and funny and entertaining. She is inspirational to me because she is a hard working beautiful smart woman who clearly has her stuff figured out. I liked her alot and even though her tests were really hard, I would recommend the class.

Honestly, I enjoyed the class until about the last month and would probably still recommend it to someone else. Dr. Tafoya is very pretentious and can be very b*tchy. However, she can also be very funny and interesting as well. If you have a strong personality to match hers, you'll do fine. The textbook is an absolute necessity.

She does powerpoints in class which are pretty much in the book. But if you read and take notes of the book chapters you will be good. Her test study guides somewhat match the exams and sometimes she will add questions which were discussed in class. It is an easy class if you go and read on your own time.

This is a 100 level course. Literally, below a 101 class. No other com 100 teach requires this much work. On top of that, the unbelievably large amount of work given to you is never explained. She grades unfairly and never shows up on time.

Funny, overall nice teacher. But... the class is filled with anecdotes about the good old days, not the course material. Buy the book, you'll need it. Unclear about the assignments, but is sure to inform you that her expectations are high.

She goes off on random tangents during lecture so you barely learn anything you need to in class. I stopped going after a while because I learned more reading the book for 10 minutes. Her assignments are very confusing and never explains them. The worst thing though is that her final was at 7:30 in the morning!

Holds herself very highly in her own mind. She arrives late to class, her TA does most her work, is not clear on instructions with papers & takes forever to get back to you. The fact that she lets her TA grade papers REALLY bothers me, and she refuses to read the assignment herself once it has been graded. Easy class though. She is unprofessional.

Shoot me in the face. Her voice for three hours is painful. Her face twitch seems chemically induced. Her study guide didn't match up with the test after I spent 8 hrs studying. She straight tells you that she wants to give you a C at the most. It is very bad scene. I recommend you look elsewhere. Seriously, avoid her.

Awful Teacher. dresses and talks like a sorority girl rather than a teacher. Would rather give you an F than an A. Doesn't explain assignments, is not helpful, licks her lips obnoxiously, and thinks she is better than everyone. Good luck! Drop her while you can!
