No homework was collected or graded, so I didnt know how I was doing in the class until our first test which was the mid term. Almost everyone failed, and while he said he would increase my grade after I made corrections, I do not believe that he did. My grades for the class were never posted online. Do not waste your time/money on this teacher.

Not good. This teacher is full of himself. Name dropping, talking about big past gigs and no clear system for teaching. Just rambles and tries to impress. I would not recommend.

He knows everything. Now, sometimes there is no clear direction in his classes and he goes on about unrelated musical topics, but you can ask anything at any time and he will explain it perfectly

He's an amazing mucisian and has a wealth of knowledge to share. That being said, he's teaching style is next to impossible to navigate. I definitely do not recommend taking his courses unless you are already great at what you'll be learning. Also, go to his office hours and you'll get a better grade!

Mitch is an amazing musician, but not a very good teacher. He has so much going on in his head and when he tries to explain it just ends up confusing you. If you're just getting the basics of theory don't take him. He's a great guy and his Performance lab is pretty fun. Don't take him for theory unless you have a firm grasp on it already.

Has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to theory and music but he has no structure to his teaching. When he arrives to class he just talks about whatever he is feeling that day and usually it doesn't pertain to anything that you're suppose to be learning. If you are not well grounded with harmony& theory don't take him unless you get a tutor too.

A little bittersweet with Mitch. He's an awesome dude and is funny and inspirational, but he's just too all over the place as a teacher. I went into MAT knowing nothing about theory and he was teaching secondary dominants the first class. There I was still learning how to spell out chords. It's not even that he's "too fast," he's just all over.

Took him for a summer semester. He's very fast and expects you to keep up with the material. Extremely knowledgable. My only big criticism is that he is a little too fast. Easy to get lost. Take him if you are super nerdy. Also has great hair.

Doesn't really teach, more of a lecture guy... only problem is the lectures aren't about anything you need to learn for next semester. Odd style of teaching... I can appreciate it, but when you're where I'm coming from, I need a more direct approach.

Mitch is a mixed bag. He is incredibly passionate and has a really nifty alternative style of teaching. He doesn't really assign homework so your grade really depends on attendance and tests. He also speaks really fast. I found myself getting lost a lot. Some classes he will go off topic for the entirety of the class.

Mitch is great! Although he moves quickly at times, he is always willing to help outside of class and usually has office hours on two different days. He really wants students to do well and understand harmony. That being said, he spends a lot of time focusing on how music makes you feel as opposed to just going over the "rules". Taking for HR 4

Mitch is a fantastic teacher. He really shows you how to apply hearing to your chord spelling and analysis. You learn how to hear without seeing the score, you learn functions, and how the chords make you feel. Be prepared to study in your own time because he usually won't cover the same thing twice. Moves fast, but he's great.

Mitch is absolutely, positively the best teacher i have ever had for anything in my whole entire life. He made music as a whole so much more amazing to me. He is clear as day in his teaching, but you have to be willing to put in your time to learn too. Its your job as a student to get yourself to a place where you really truly own the material.

Make sure you are willing to do the work in your own time, because that's his style. He focuses more on how chords make YOU feel rather than telling you. He gives you every opportunity to better your grade and improve. (Don't forget your arrows!)

Good teacher for people who are self motivated to do the work. If you don't have a solid foundation then it would be a mistake to take this professor. Great teacher if you play a harmonic instrument because he's got voiceleading down. Mitch plays all the examples and it really helped me understand the concepts. Great guy too.
