WORST PROFESSOR. Took this class as a ged thinking it would be easy. Little did I know it would be my hardest class. I got a 65.6. I a ONLY PASSED BY .6 when I had all As in the others. My mom helped me and I payed for coursehero cause there was no way I was going to take it again. Tests took 3 hours for 20 questions with TWO people. DO NOT TAKE.

WORST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD. No textbook and nothing to fall back on besides the powerpoints he gave in class. Tests and exams have NOTHING to do with what he talks about in class, because of instead of teaching he just rambles on and on about random things. I have never fallen below a B- in a class and struggled to pass this class.

treated us like dumb children. the whole class was him just ranting and not even getting to what we needed to know. we got through 1 maybe 2 power point slides per lecture because he was talking about the most random stuff all the time. everything he said sounded like a conspiracy theory.

Rambles on and we had no textbook to follow. Basically an online class. 1/3 classes per week was called a lab and was supposed to be 2 hours instead of the usual 50 minutes, and instead he'd come in many times from 8-8:05 am and say class dismissed, or leave us unattended with a documentary. Very unprofessional and replies to emails with "yup".

Heywood is a kind and knowledgable individual. He is extremely smart and knows his stuff. However for a 100 level intro class there is way too much material and no textbook for when you need help. I took this my senior year and this is the hardest class I have taken in all four years of college. I would avoid it at all costs.

5 quizzes, 3 tests. That's your grade. For the online, the quiz and test questions are posted, so you can work on them ahead of time. Interesting guy to listen to, he posts all the lecture audio online also. The tests and quizzes, though already posted, are slightly hard. You have to work for it but I enjoyed the class

Many of the things on the test were not taught in the lectures so I had to teach myself a lot of the time. In the online class, he gives you the quiz and exam questions ahead of time which was nice.

Very few assignments for the whole course. What he teaches in lecture & lab is nothing like what is on the quizzes and exams. He's interesting to listen to, but attendance isn't required so the 8am lectures are always really empty.

I swear this man doesn't know how to teach. He would teach us one thing in lecture, another thing in the lab and then the quiz/exam would be on something he has never taught us. It was one of the most frustrating classes I have ever taken. DONT TAKE IT!!!

5 quizzes and 3 exams, thats your grade. Graded material doesn't come from the book. Don't always go off what people say on here. I took him because he had good reviews but he was a disaster. 40% of my class had a d or f average. Avoid if possible. There is no homework, projects, nothing. just the quizzes and exams which are all online.

Heywood is a great guy. He is full of knowledge and his passionate about the subjects that he teaches. All of his test and quizzes you can do by yourself or in groups on your own time outside of class. He gives you them a week ahead of time so you don't have to cram for anything. He tape records all his lectures and powerpoints and puts them on D2L

I would never take a class with him again. He was a nice enough guy, and gave us many opportunities to get a good grade, however his exams/quizzes were very hard and very stressful. I felt as if going to class was pointless because the questions on quizzes/exams were nothing like what he talked about in class. Absolutely infuriating.

Environmental Hazards is a great class. Should be renamed to search and rescue. Dr. Heywood brings alot of experience to the class from his navy days. He is a great person to talk to and to get to know but be warned hes a talker for sure.

Phenomenal professor. Lectures were easy to listen to and fairly interesting even if geography isn't your favorite subject. Helpful guy. Test's and quizzes are all online and they are fair. Highly recommend Heywood if you want a nice grade in a 5 Credit course.

Heywood is an absurdly easy prof, his attitude is "your grade is what matters, not how you get it", so all the tests are online, you can do them in groups, the quizzes have exact questions a few days ahead of time online, etc. That said, he's funny, smart, and not hard to listen to in lecture. And he's got an epic beard. Total badass

Great professor! Records every lecture and puts them online in case you miss class. Doesn't grade labs. Makes the class accessible; if you do the work it is impossible to not get an A! He understands the value of experiences and understands that we don't have 10 hours a week to spend on the material outside of class. Great professor! Funny too.
