had him for Theory Anthropology online. Forum posts due on Weds. based off of films ( usually an hour long film), film-based quizzes, and respond to a peer's forum post by Sunday. Quizzes weren't bad at all and he ALWAYS reply to forum posts. Really insightful. Tests are midterm and non cumulative final. Tedious but easy work

He answers emails back within 24 hours, very accessible for an online class. The class itself is upper level so there is a lot of work, but it is totally doable. For summer 338 - every 2 days reading quiz & discussion post due. 1 midterm, 1 non cumulative final. Interesting material, and he is very knowledgeable / gives good insight.

Took McCarty for an online course this winter. Don't really know what this guy wants for an A. His rubric states that an A is "beyond expectations." Really? That's what normal people call extra credit. If you do everything, and do it well, you get a 910 on assignments. Not very helpful either; was pretty unresponsive. Maybe he's better in person.

Every class we watched a video, a few times caught him falling asleep. Lectures skip around a lot and are difficult to take notes for. His "study guides" are just replications of his lecture slides, which are like novels. Expects you to do essays on books never readnever assigned and only gives an extreme cursory glance during lecture on them.

I like him because he's nice and always understanding. Lots of videos. He usually does 3 (easier) tests that are half multiple choice type and half short essays and a research paper. He loves his subject and really wants you to ask questions and "get it". Attendance policy varies by class tho

Still taking the class, but I have no idea what this guy's standards are. If you post to his forums 30 times, you get a 90, if you post 3 times, you get an 85 (2 posts are mandatory). Class was hybrid, but all we did in class was watch movies.

A video is shown in every class and you may be asked to finish them or watch additional hour long videos at home. Almost no lecture. He is very strict with attendance. If you have this class 3 times a week and are out for one week do to an illness, he is not understanding. If you have a doctors note, there will still be negative consequences.

THIS IS THE MOST BORING PROFESSOR OF ALL TIME. He will review the same power point 5 times and then never go over the other 3. Read the assigned readings and don't fall asleep during the videos because you will regret it come test time.

It is definitely hard to stay awake in his class & he does tend move around with his notes alot. DO have to watch very boring movies but I think he's a fair test maker & grader. Discussions are boring as well but pay attention to his notes & movies. gives study guides, sample exam etc...no FINAL

Worst professor I have ever had at rutgers. He fell asleep during a movie he made us watch. Monotone speaker, does not hold anyone's interest. Reads from the slides he shows in class and tells the same life stories every day. If you ask him a question he will not give you a response, and if you answer his question he will not give any feedback.

920:313; This teacher is not helpful. His attendance is 50% of the grade. He teaches the same material several classes in a row and has no idea what time the class starts or ends. Didn't learn anything in this class. The 3 main graded items I had were an A, A, and B. Final grade of a B? Missed 4 classes. SIGN IN on the sheet or you're absent!

Certainly not an engaging personality. He's pretty shy. Tests include class lectures, video discussions, textbooks, and any odd stories he tells. 1 paper and 3 non-cumulative tests.

North American Indians: Yeah, he mumbles(sit up front), and his lectures meander(leave gaps in your notes and use arrows to reconnect). Of the two textbooks, Nabakov's Testimony is the more relevant, but you'd better do all the assigned reading. The study guides are in supplement to the reading, not an answer key to the upcoming test.

Pay attention to movies and take notes! Fair grader. 2 of 3 tests were take-home and drops lowest grade. Easy! Rather monotone but if you express concern for grade he'll give you a good grade. Was kinda boring but I only took the course to fufill a req. Is very compassionate if you are fearful of making presentations.

Take good notes in class-write down as much as you can amd you won't have to memorize stuff in the book. Pay attention to movie discussions- This will get you thru the tests with a decent grades. Make sure to follow his format for the paper as he gives you points for each section.

This teacher is not only boring, but his tests are not what you expect them to be. Staying awake in this class is nearly impossible. I took him last semester...take ind and society just so you can stay conscious! His movies are the worst!
