You can tell he loves to write and cares about his students, but he gives a lot of long essay assignments. He is also a tough grader.

Never review on this thing but reading reviews for him are forcing me to. Amazing lectures?what? about his personal/irrelevant opinions that you're suppose to agree on? You learned a lot? he gives little to no feedback. He didn't even bother reading my entire 8pg paper. He ripped apart the first two pages and left the rest untouched. interesting...

whatever you do, don't waste your time with crenshaw. In no way is this man mature or qualified enough to be considered a professor. He reminds me of that gym coach teacher we all had in high school that thinks disrespecting students is hilarious. By all means, if listening to his off-topic opinions for two hours sounds enjoyable take crenshaw!!!!!

Super interesting class. Funny guy. Very few assignments, just a couple of longer papers. But doesn't give very clear feedback. Would take again.

There are pro's and con's to his class. He's an amazing writer and expects a lot from his students. You get to pick your topics for papers, but he's the hardest professor I've ever had. Do not expect anything better than a B in his class, even if your a spectacular writer. But I've learned more from him in a semester than all 4 years of high school

I have never had a problem with a professor until Crenshaw. This guy is rude, doesn't want his students to succeed, gives little to no feedback on papers, is incredibly lazy (he even says so himself) and he is unprofessional. He likes to put students down. He gets annoyed when students ask clarifying questions. Worst teacher I ever had.

Crenshaw knows a lot a bout literature, but that's where the good things end. I never received one piece of positive feedback from him, he assigned way too much work, and there always seemed to be a "right" answer, even though it was a literature course based on interpretation. He is the only professor that's ever made me feel like a bad student.

Crenshaw is a great professor! Highly recommend if you are looking to learn and improve your writing and analytical skills. Most likely get a B or B+, but the skills you develop are much more beneficial than the grade you end up with in the end. A plus to his class is that you get to pick your paper topics, which makes the essays not as dreadful.

Crenshaw expects a lot out of his students. You get 3 skips a semester, and if you skip more than that your grade suffers. His classes are very interesting and you discuss controversial topics such as drugs, gay marriage, etc. Papers are long (5-10pgs), and he makes you work for it, but if you follow directions you should end up with a B.

People get mad because they have gotten B's on his assignments. He makes you work for your grade, but you never write about anything you don't care about. If he suspects you are having trouble he will help you. He is honestly a great teacher.

Leads interesting class conversations and has very fun engaging activities. I don't mind the length of the assignmnents because they actually are pretty fun to write about, considering the fact that you pick something of your interest. If it wasn't for his EXTREMELY hard grading I would recommend him 100%.. Also a very good arguer.

Extremely hard grader. Assigns extremely unnecessarily long essays. Attendance is mandatory, but Participation is key. Leads very interesting discussions on controversial tops which are fun. But he also has a very liberal point of view, and will not back down if you so dare counter his opinion on these topics.

Crenshaw is a very good English teacher. He's exactly what I would expect from a college professor. He gives you the opportunity to laugh in class - if you agree with his humor. Overall, I really enjoyed the class and despite tougher grading I liked the assignments too.

Mr. Crenshaw may seem intimidating, but he is there to help you learn. I learned so much about writing well throughout the semester. 4 papers total, and the last one is very short. He is willing to go the extra mile for the students who put in the effort. He can be a hard grader, but all he is trying to do is push you.

Hes definitely a different kind of professor. Definitely very sarcastic, but if you understand his sense of humor hes funny. If you enjoy debating and participating in class he is definitely the professor to take. Very liberal, but good to debate with. Pretty much no matter how goodbad you are in the class you will get a B

I loved him. English isn't my strongest subject but he made the class enjoyable and fun. Only 4 essays each 25% of your grade. I would take a class with him again.

I didn't think I'd like his class in the beginning, since it was required to graduate at Elon, but not for my major. He ended up being cool. Made the class alright. Only used the books in the beginning of the semester. Final assignment was easy and a nice break during finals week. Could be moody, but he liked me so it didn't matter. GO TO CLASS!

Crenshaws a bro. He assigns four essay assignments and is a pretty fair grader. He makes class interesting by discussing things related to college students. Take his College Writing class.
