He makes use of an inquiry style to teach you how to think about teaching. Great guy, too! He also brings in a coffee cart and he kickstarted my taste for coffee with a lil bit of creamer (get some from the POD in MAK).

Dr. Yu was the only prof teaching this class this semester. He never graded anything so to determine your final grade you write a two page paper saying what grade you deserve in the class. He ultimately decides purely on his opinion and you can't do anything to change it. Also, we got assigned a lot of projects at the very end of the semester.

If I could take every class with Paul Yu I would! He brings an understand of math ed to another level! He not only helped me with this class but helps me with my other math courses I am in! He is super understanding and will give you more time on things if you have a good relationship with him or if you are honest with him.

Comment:
Prof Yu is a great guy but a horrible prof. I cannot express enough how pointless this class was. I was supposed to be learning activities that I could do with my students when I teach but I would NEVER expect my high school students to do any of that stuff. The work we did was very time consuming and instructions were never clear.

He assigns a lot of work and does not give grades throughout the course so you are lost as to what your grade actually is. He is very scattered and half the time does not even know when his assignments are due. If you need structure to do well in a course do not take him, you will be lost for the whole course and I found myself often confused.

Prof Yu is a really great guy, funny, super knowledgable but he acts like this is his first time teaching the course. He tried a lot, and i mean a lot, of new projects with our class and although they were deemed resourceful by the end, the class was so TIME CONSUMING. If you can get a better prof, I'd say take it. He never grades anything either.

Dr. Paul was an interesting professor. He was an extremely kind, caring person but his classroom management was poor. He threw a lot of projects at us at the end of the course and didn't explain them much at all. I loved having him as a professor because of his attitude but I would not take him again.

Professor Yu is a very interesting professor. He doesn't grade any assignments but you still have to try hard on them and they're very time consuming. Some very tedious. You grade yourself at the end of the course in a paper saying why you deserve that grade but he'll challenge it if he thinks you don't deserve it. Occasionally he'll buy us pizza.

Paul was awesome, he brought food to classes almost once a week & brewed coffee in every one of his lectures. He had a heavy work load, but you just have to keep up with it and know it's all worth it for your major.

I absolutely loved learning from Dr Paul he was so kind and it really showed he cared about his students and how they did in his class. I had a 10am with him and he still brewed fresh coffee for us every morning. Best prof I've had at GV so far

Paul is honestly one of the best math profs I've ever had. He's super laid back and chill. It's definitely not a traditional math class, but he knows what he's talking about. He made a 6-8 more bearable. you definitely need to go to class though otherwise you're going to miss a lot!

He really care about his students. The class was fun with lots of activities. Not taught in the traditional style but was a great class which I learned a lot from. The only negative I could say is he can be a little disorganized at times. I would recommend taking him.

By far my favorite professor at GV. Explains everything so well and is there for you if you need anything at all. Grades based off of how much you tried, not how many you got correct. I had him for an 8 am and he brewed fresh coffee for everyone every day. I would 100% recommend him to everyone, I wish I could take him again for another class.

Dr. Yu is one of my favorite professors at GVSU. His teaching style is so different from any that I've had, but I loved it. He doesn't give grades, he makes you grade yourself, but you have to convince him that your grade is accurate. I strongly believe Dr. Yu has better prepared me in becoming a math teacher.

FANTASTIC math prof! I've always hated math, but he made learning so much fun. He explained the material SO well that everything I learned last semester has stuck for good. Study well for the exams, do the homework, go to class, and you'll get an A. I highly recommend taking Paul's math class.

Im typically a C math student and I am currenly getting a B+. Very helpful and very clear. Best math teacher I've had so far. Textbook is rarely used.

Professor Yu is a very nice person, however i would not recommend him. I felt as though this class was taught terribly. I learned very little and the exams were impossible as they were over material we never covered and that he just expects you to know. Also 3 exams made up 100% of your grade.Little work was required but hard to get a good grade.

Dr. Yu is by far the best math prof I have ever had. I actually learned a lot from his class and wanted to go. I hate math but he made it worth while. I usually get C's but I think I will end the semester with at least a solid B.

I took Paul for 221 and 222. He is an amazing professor! I learned so much from him and had a ton of fun in his class. He drops the lowest grade of an exam your homework grade or a project grade, depending on what you did the worst on! Take him if you can, especially for elementary minors!

Dr. Yu is the man. His class was very simple, and he let the class know what was going on. The class often felt repetitive, especially when we spent about two months doing problems about cookies and coffee. He brought us coffee to every class. He wasn't giving us bad coffee, it was that Seattle's Best gourmet stuff. He's a good guy, take him!
