Comment:

She teaches in German, which is great but when learning a new topic it's really hard to keep up. The information she throws at you is a lot and very confusing. A lot of teaching yourself. Homework is due everyday, but she doesn't check it so it's not helpful just annoying and tedious. Not moving forward with German because of her. GET BONZO!

Comment:

A lot of people complain that she is strict and gives a lot of homework, but these aspects of her teaching style have really helped my fluency in German. If you don't love speaking German and are too scared to ask questions, don't take this class. Do take if you want a more intense foreign language experience.

Comment:

Great teacher made a fun course even better. This class studied foreign film, which she definitely knew a lot of. Even brought in professors from other specialties to broaden our experience. Lectures rely heavily upon class participation to keep it moving, which I liked for a class like this. You weren't told what to think, just what could be seen.

Absolutely fantastic! Very approachable and cares about her students. Class was always interesting, fun, and non-stressful. She's super smart and enthusiastic about her subject. Little study-time was required as essay exams were based directly on class discussions...and yet I learned a ton.

I had her for Ger 203, 204, & 350. There is frequent homework, but most of the time it's really short and not too difficult. Just do the HW and have a sincere interest in learning German and you'll pass & learn something! I loved every class. I learned SO much, but I didn't realize how much until I studied abroad for a semester in Germany. :D

I LOVED HER. Best prof I have had at WSU yet. Super intelligent, very cool with students, free spirited, fair grader, interesting lectures... she's everything I could ever want in a prof. I would take her class again in a heartbeat!!

Halverson knows her stuff and is very kind and out there to help the students. She is always open to comments and very free spirited. She allows everyone to interact in class (because she teaches the higher levels of German, classes are generally smaller). She definitely has a lot of reading to do for higher level students, but discusses everything

Dr. Halverson portrayed German in a whole new light. She interacted directly with students but on a more personal basis. Her best trait was she let students talk amongst themselves thereby increasing raw German usage drastically. She holds a plethora of knowledge with a desire to help, teach and further the knowledge of students.

She is a wonderful teacher, with an insightful and complete grasp of the subject. You must take her if you want to learn german. Usually gives homework, though it's not much, can be done quickly, and usually helps a lot. Tests are written and M/P, not too hard, she helps you prepare. Is very clear, fair and dedicated. Makes German fun and easy!

Professor Halverson is an amazing language instructor. I wasn't even that interested in German before I took her class. It is unfortunate that there are not more science/math instructors around as engaging and dedicated to teaching as her.

This was an honors class, so it was relatively difficult, but I really enjoyed having Dr. Halverson. She is very easy to talk to and have discussions with and she makes class interesting and fun! Very nice lady and wonderful teacher!
