Comment:

Professor Roberts has the difficult task of teaching while also being the head of the theater department. It will be clear to you that he is not overly concerned about the amount of work that is accomplished in his class, but his lectures are hilarious and the tests are super easy. Papers are basically just your opinion on the plays you must watch.

Comment:

Ric Roberts knows his stuff and is very respected as the head of the Theater Department. He is super funny and nice; I never felt uncomfortable in his class. This is a college theater course, so it is not uncommon for professors to talk about "touchy" subjects because they relate to the class. Overall, easy A and I would definitely take him again.

Absolutely awesome professor, wants everyone to pass so if you fail it is entirely your fault. Any comments saying that he is inappropriate with students are completely way off base. He is a nice, funny guy and truly understands the meaning of a gen ed requirement.

Pros: Easiest class ever. Never stay the entire time. If you fail this class, you are a complete idiot given the enormous amount of extra credit. Cons: This guy is a child. He needs to be worshiped and told he's the greatest (if he was, he wouldn't be at SVSU). Be prepared for his ick factor. I never felt comfortable in his class.

BEST PROFESSOR AT SVSU! He is absolutely hilarious. I had no interest in theatre at all whatsoever and that was my favorite class to go to. Almost my whole class was disappointed at the end of the semester that the class was over. 7-10:00 class, never goes past 8:30. Super easy class, don't buy the book. Ended the class with 55 points of extra cred

Prof Roberts is AWESOME! He offers so much extra credit for just showing up to class. His class is usually 7-10pm but you will literally never stay past 8:30. He is super passionate in what he does and loves to express theater to all. 10/10 recommend even if it is just a required class and you hate theater.

I don't know why everyone is saying Ric has "inappropriate" relationships with his students. I thought he was respectful and hilarious. I never once felt uncomfortable nor offended by anything he said or did. He makes the class super easy. Outstanding professor. Don't buy the book, you won't need it.

Ric Roberts is one of the most sorry excuses for a professor I have ever met. He never shows up to his own classes let alone expects students to come. He has often made incredibly inappropriate remarks to students including racist jokes, and sexual comments to other current students. How he is still employed at SVSU? i haven't the slightest AVOID

Ric is an amazing teacher, our class was a 3 hour class and we were always out within an hour. He usually cancels class a lot, because he does direct plays. He tells you what you need to know before an exam. 2 papers, easy and 2 plays to go to. He also gives out crazy amounts of extra credit. He knows you need this as a CI and makes it easy.

You will not need the textbook, he tells you exactly what will be on the tests. Very funny professor and class never lasted the whole time. There was a presentation as well but was very easy.

Ric is nice, has a great sense of humor, excited about teaching AND what he teaches. Gives you great support and feedback and boosts your confidence. Really have to try hard to not do well. Best quality is he wants you to learn about what he loves so much. Great theatre professor, would take him for any theatre class.

This is not the type of acting professor that will care about you as an actor. Nor will he teach you how to hone your skills. He is very judgmental. His role as an educator seems to be more self fulfilling. I've had him for multiple courses only because there was no other option. Avoid this professor at all costs.

Don't waste your money. If you want a teacher who spends less time trying to fill his own needs of acceptance and more time caring about your education, I highly recommend David Rzeszutek. Ric Roberts should honestly not be teaching, period.

DON'T BUY THE BOOK. It's really easy. He knows that people are there just for the gen ed but he's so chill and cool. The only hard part was reading the play scripts and writing brief summaries of them which you can usually sparknote. The class also usually only lasts like 1 hour tops. Take if you can.

You. Won't. Regret. It. Hilarious, easy, understands that 75% of students take this class because they hear it's easy. Ric's personality just added that much more to the long 7-10 class. Great professor.

Musical theatre is a great passion for Ric, and it will show if you take this class. He is critical but always fair, and you will always know where you stand with him. He also isn't afraid to stop and have a chat mid-class, but he's always quick to get things back on track. I had a blast!

Roberts is a very easy prof, he keeps class light and almost always let us out early. We could miss 2 classes before our grade was affected. Don't buy the book. I'd recommend this class to anyone looking to fill a gen ed requirement!
