Most pedantic professor I have EVER taken. Avoid at all costs, I should have listened to the other reviews. He is picky and wants you to code according to his way only . When coding for his class become him and do everything he would do. If you attempt to be creative or code as a sovereign non-robotic human, suffer the consequences.

Nice enough guy, but VERY disorganized. Stopped grading assignments around week 4. Can be very helpful if you email him and ask (class was online), but otherwise you are on your own and will have no idea what your grade is until the end. Essentially, not a teacher, just an inattentive babysitter.

Instructor is disorganized at best. He failed to get a midterm out on time so we didn't do one. I haven't received feedback or grades, on weekly projects since week 4, it is week 10. it would be impossible to calculate my grade this term two weeks before it ends. Any prospective java student would be better served learning online for free.

Comment:
Truly the most absurd amount of coursework I have ever had. I've taken his CISC 181 class, and the amount of homework is insane. The work you have to do is unclear, I'd say up to 15 hours of homework a week if you want a good grade. Coding for this alice program is required and it isn't easy. Doesn't grade anything until nearly the end.

Professor is very inflexible, I'm a DSPS student and he failed to honor the DSPS parameters presented in the beginning, affording me extra time for assignments and tests. I brought it to his attention, he refused again, then had to go to Counselor to get him to comply by then a week or so had passed and I was even further behind. Dont' take him.

I read his other reviews and decided to give him the benefit of the doubt. Was trying to learn java, very demotivating, save yourself the hassle and pick another prof.

I really enjoyed taking Mr. Pelletier's class. The other comments are true, he does not grade ANY assignment until the end of the semester so a pro tip for him would be to volunteer your program at the beginning of class to be graded. That is the only way you'll know how you're doing in the class.

This is not a good teacher. I did a ton of work for his Java class only for him to pick and choose which projects he wants to grade at the end to his liking. He did not tally all my scores and average them off, Instead he picked which assignments he wanted to grade and gave me a D. I put my best foot forward and still could not pass. Take Forman.

Don't take his class if you want to get a good grade. But if you are so good at programming language, you can try his class. I don't recommend him at all.

I entered this class with an interest in Java but by the end I had no interest in pursuing a career in programming, at least not in Java. Like all the other comments, I received no feedback on any assignments unless he graded it in front of the class. He also does not explain things well and gives the answers to all the HW, removing any challenges.

Nice guy and knows the subject. Puts zero effort into the class and gives the answers to remove any challenge in the homework. You won't receive any feedback on homework unless you volunteer to have it reviewed in class. If you're confused expect only classmates to answer your questions. Take only if you know the subject and need an easy class.

He will grade your program in class and give you feedback on the spot, but if you don't volunteer for that you probably won't get much feedback from him. You need to read the book for the quizzes. The quizzes are online and you can take the pre-quiz as many times as you want, so there's no reason not to get 90-100% on each quiz.

This professor is easy to get a hold of but will not give you a lot of feedback on how you're doing in the class. The professor is never on campus or in his office. The tutoring center or private tutors is your best bet for getting help. The class is easy if you've taken programming before, but the lack of feedback from the professor is a pain.

Not an easy A. You must know basic math. Prof is straightforward and expects you to exhibit professionalism as a programmer. Provides several ways to communicate and response is quick. Great book, tons of examples from text/lectures.Good class online, you have to put in the effort. Slow to grade, but the projects provide feedback as you go.

Took his online class. It was the same as not having a professor at all, never grade anything, so you won't find how you are doing until the end of the semester. The homework are easy, usually just reading the notes he post you are able to do it. Just don't expect any fast return to your emails and don't expect see your grades.

DO NOT TAKE HIM! Terrible teacher. Does not return work, answer emails or even talk on the discussion boards. I saw these posts on RateMyProfessor.com before taking him and did anyways, but I would not have if I had known how lazy he was. AGAIN. DO NOT TAKE HIM.

Terrible, terrible, terrible instructor! He didn't grade any assignment at all in the whole semester time. I didn't have any idea I was doing ok or not. No feedback, no useful help.NOTHING! I wish I hadn't taken this class but there was no other VB class except for this one. Do NOT take his class!

This lazy teacher has not graded our assignment. We're in the 6th week of an 8-week class and we don't know whether we're going to pass this class or not. You can expect a very slow response (1+ week) if you have a question and you want to send him an e-mail (this is an online class). Avoid this teacher if you really want to learn Visual Basic.

This teacher was awful. He changed assignments close to their due dates, didn't grade anything until the end of the semester (no way to prevent ourselves from repeating a mistake), didn't take the time to fix problems with his assignments/tests, etc. He was also very slow to respond to e-mails/online class messages. Take anyone but Pelletier!
