I loved Rob. I took CH121-123 with him, and each term I had a great time. He's hilarious! He can come off as standoffish and intimidating, but he really does care about his students and is willing to answer any questions, especially if you try in his class. He goes over all the homework in class, so you can see what you missed and why. Loved him!

Comment:

Read material before lecture, and ask questions, before, during, and after class. He is always checking his email, too. He can be intimidating initially, but push past it. He is a great professor. Everything he has ever mentioned in lecture is fair game for test. Hint: everything is cumulative, and remember real world problems (environmental).

Much like the reviews here, most people seem to have a love/hate relationship with Rob and his teaching methods. He is direct, poignant, and often cheeky with his students. The lectures are interesting and so is the man. Class was good, but be ready for difficult exams and study the homework. STUDY! It makes all the difference.

Rob is the best professor at cgcc. I was afraid to take his class after hearing some comments from other students and I am glad I took his chemistry class. His lectures were very interesting and was very clear on the things we had to memorize to get a good grade.

Rob is a solid teacher. He is not going to hold your hand every step of the way. He pushes you to think outside the box. Class is set-up so that even if you score poorly on exams but otherwise work hard you can still get a decent grade overall. If your math skills are weak you better sort that out beforehand. Yea...I suppose he is easy on the eyes

The class is pretty difficult but if you buddy up with others you can work through it. Rob has an ego the size of Texas, if you ask a question he says "look it up" he is zero help in the lab and the lectures are pretty dull, hard to keep your eyes open. He really thinks he is above everybody and needs to adjust his attitude.

Rob is AWESOME. People who whine need to grow up. Students in this class want to be nurses, and this is a great introduction to science and figuring out how to work well with all types of people. The class is great, it's a lot of work, but you learn if you put in the effort!

Robs definitely a rad guy, and a good instructor. He has pretty clear expectations for what he wants. Easy homework, easy labs, lots of opportunities to earn points in this class (it's not all based on exams)... The material is pretty tough if you've never had chemistry, and I'd definitely recommend knowing your algebra!!!

Comment:

Chemistry is a difficult subject for non-math, science majors. Rob does an excellent job of explaining chemistry in English. Gives the student many opportunities to succeed. He grades based on several components, not just the Mid-term and Final, for those who do not test well. Rob is a good guy, just get past the front he puts on.

Great guy. He is really smart and does offer help when asked. I get that sometimes he may seem abrasive when you don't get what is going on in class but he does answer the question and seems to honestly care that you understand the material. Also totally agreed not at all bad to look at!

Not helpful at all. Thinks he is a total genius and a gift to the universe. Be prepared to buddy up with other students in class to learn together cause he will be of no help. Labs are a free for all. This class was an awful experience- especially if chem does not come easily!!!

Great teacher! I had NO interest or understanding in chemistry prior to his class, I took 2 extra chem classes. He relates info to the real world. 2 easy papers, need lots of study time. Always willing to answer questions. Quiz every week/ homework every class. Nice to look at in class too!

Pretty decent instructor but the tests are murder realy shocked everyone I talked to.Most people scored 2letter grades below their expectation. Nice guy will work with you if you are totally committed.His favorite quote,"Its all cumilative" He means it! hmwk every class 2 cake papers,relatively simple labs,quiz every week. 3 exams.
