Robin was a fun guy, but wow at the work I put into this class. Not easy. May seem like it but nope, it's confusing. Wanted to make an A but you have to make a 93 to do that so, yep.

Although the class itself is easy on the surface (most assignments you will get a 100 if you attempted to complete all parts) his ridiculous grading scale kind of ruined the class for me. Each assignment is worth a significant amount of your grade and most of them don't really seem to apply to theater. If you want an easy A, look elsewhere.

So I really like him as a person and I believe he's passionate about what he's doing, But he is not a good teacher. He goes off on random tangents during lecture and his quizes on the plays you go to see have super specific questions that don't matter to the grand scheme of the play. He's a cool guy though and his projects are fun and helpful.

Jaffe is ok. I read about the 93 for an A on here and I thought it would be no problem because it's theatre, but he makes it way harder than it has to be. It seems like he's bitter he is teaching theatre for non-majors (what should be an easy A) so he's making it harder than it has to be to make a point to the students. Read the book if you get him

He structures it so that you have to score almost perfectly on his tests to get an A, and an A isn't a 90 or above, it's a 93 or above, which is totally ridiculous. Spent time gluing rocks together (for some theater purposes), and he was so upset by students' honest responses on here that he posted an angry note about it on our final exam. Avoid.

I made a perfect score on everything but the test and am leaving with a B! It's not right@ I have emailed him for a week with no response. I wouldn't suggest this class.

This class is actually entertaining. I think some of the mean comments are from slackers. Funny classes & quarky group projects make this class a nice refresher from other classes. Plus Jaffe is cool!

Jaffe is a nice guy who is really passionate about what he's doing, but i would not recommend this class. His grading scale is ridiculous, making it next to impossible to get and A. The class really is not about theatre, it's more a class about gluing rocks together and sending him recipes. If you are expecting an easy A do not take this class

Jaffe was an awesome professor. He's hilarious and keeps class interesting. While some of the group projects didn't really pertain to the world's definition of "theatre," doing them with your group is actually enjoyable. You become very close with each other. Tests are easy, I didn't have the books and made an A on every one. Take this class!

This is an easy class. A hint to the people who gave him a low rating and said that the material on the tests came out of nowhere: you maybe should have considered cracking open that textbook you bought. The reading took like 10 min or less per night. Group projects were easy and Jaffe himself is slightly insane but funny. 5 skips allowed.

Great Fine Arts elective! The reading is light, skimming it is fine. Tests are easy if you have a pulse. Several group projects, which aren't bad at all--my group got pretty close. Jaffe is a super helpful, sarcastic, & HILARIOUS ex-hippie w/ lots of energy. Take it in the fall and you get Rosh Hashanah off :) This was a fun and interesting class!

A lot of people complain about his class but it's really not bad.. he does give a bunch of random projects but as long as you attempt them you get a 100. He's a cool guy and the class isn't hard by any means

This class was great & Jaffe is a fun guy. An A is 93, but it's NOT hard. Really. You work in groups and they are fun-our's is very close! Projects can be silly but they're not stressful & if you're taking this for a Fine Art..YOU DON'T HAVE TO ACT! Get the old tests-study those and you'll make a high A on the exams. Easy final and 5 skips allowed!

I loved Jaffe. When you're completing the class assignments, its eay for someone not educated in theatre to complain and say it doesn't involve theatre just because it isn't performing a play, but there is so much more to theatre than that! This class wasn't what i expected, but it was a good class. My only complaint is the harsh grading scale.

Jaffe is a very passionate prof who loves theatre and is helpful to his students! His class is pretty easy as long as you take a few notes in class and participate in the projects. I enjoyed this intro class and it's very easy to get an A as long as you exude a little effort.

Ridiculous! Assigns group projects that have nothing to do with theatre. Outrageous grade scale, meaningless assignments, tests that come out of nowhere on material we haven't even mentioned in class; all adds up to a thoroughly frustrating experience. I would not reccomend Jaffe to anyone, especially if they are actually interested in theatre.

If you are interested in a meaningful experience with theater in which you learn a lot, do NOT take this class. This class is a WASTE of time. His discussions and assignments are never to the point, and his tests and quizzes test material you haven't gone over. You will waste your time and don't think you're getting an A either. Don't take this.

Robin Jaffe's intro to theatre class is one of the most annoying classes I have ever taken (and I'm in Finite Mathematics). Seriuosly, I'm working on a project right now that has NOTHING to do with Theatre, unless somehow gluing rocks together actually pertains. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Seriously I hate it and almost everyone I've talked tohates it

Frustrating class-do everything assigned. Go see the plays, do the projects, and most importantly STUDY for the tests. The scale is ridiculous and when he says he doesn't round, he isn't kidding. 93-100 is an A. I got a 92.87, put 100% effort into the class all semester, and there was no convincing him to round up. WOULDN'T recommend this guy!!!

Jaffe isn't a horrible teacher - if you take notes in class and go over them before the tests you'll do fine, but you have to work for an A. Also, pay attention to the little random irrelevant details because they will appear on the tests. best of luck!
