Dr. Silver is straightforward and her lectures are clear. I was intimidated because she said her exams are 50/50 lecture & book, but she gives a very helpful study guide that lists what to focus on. If you pay attention in class, you will have no problems with the assignments. Oh, and her final is MUCH harder than the midterm.

Turned out to be one of my favorite psych classes. Doesn't post notes online, but just puts up short outlines on the overhead during class. The book is an easy read, and the rest of the readings tend to be pretty interesting. Understand general concepts for each one and you should do fine with the two exams and the paper. Definitely recommend.

I love her!!! Awesome teacher. There's lots of reading, but it's all well worth it. She is attentive to your needs and makes the topic interesting. She is also humble and respectable. Don't be afraid to go to her for your concerns. Too bad we won't be seeing her for awhile...but she'll be back. =D

A wonderful professor. She's a very clear lecturer and very entertaining as well. She's a little full of herself, but knows what she teaches. Readings and attending lecture are recommended...but both are so interesting you won't mind. She shows lots of fun little video clips too. Great class!

This is the best class i've taken so far. Readings and attendance are LONG and a MUST in order to do well... she may have a monotoned voice, but i still thought she was a great lecturer. TAKE IT if you actually want to learn something about social psych.

I attended every lecture, took half decent notes, then crammed all the readings in the day and a half before the final and midterm. Got an A. The class is a great reinforcer or introduction of basic social psychology topics. The lectures have a strong moral undertone; this is extremely irritating unless you're there for group therapy.

Despite lots of readings and perfect attendance, her class is very interesting and worth the hard work. Skim the abstract for UCReaders and form study groups to divide up the materials for exams and you can get an A easily. Clear lectures, she repeats what's important. Fun paper to write too.

Took the social animal.... one of the most interesting PSB classes i've taken! you HAVE to go to class to take lecture notes and its non stop writting, she does not post lectures online. A LOT OF READING you have to do to do well on the midterm. Understand key concepts and you should do well. Overall, she was very interesting, I enjoyed this class.

I personally loved her. Her lectures are very interesting, and because she doesn't post endless amounts of notes via powerpoint, you are forced to listen to her lecture. (Which she does very clearly. She is easy to follow.) She is clearly interested in her subject and is very knowledgeable, and shows a lot of interesting videos in class.

Silver knows her stuff but despite the dry material, her lecturing style does not help. Can talk for an hour about 1 OVERHEAD slide with few words on it, nothing is posted online! Tests are challenging but she curves in the end. Offers some extra credit.. Can't pass the class without doing the homework assignments which can be tedious..

Doesn't understand that students have to have time to COPY a slide BEFORE she starts explaining what it is ESPECIALLY because NOTHING gets posted online.im tryin to copy the overhead & she's blabbing abt 4 different things @ the same time & by the time im done, she's moved on! TA's REALLY unhelpful & grade SOLELY on correctness regardless of effort

Class is not super interesting, but I think it is more because of the material and not necessarily her. Do the HW!!! The tests aren't that bad, but do go to class since all her notes are on overhead.

this class was so incredibly boring. gives FAR too many examples, you can tell she's interested in what she's teaching but she definitely does not transfer that interest. material is very dry. attendence is mandatory if you want to pass and her voice is annoying . if you don't have to take this class DON'T TAKE IT. oh and most of the TAs suck.

Awesome teacher! I love her! I dont know why people are complaining-is it because they have to go to lecture since there is no powerpoint? She is VERY interesting and gives great examples about real-life "facts" presented by the media and how to analyze the "study."Midterm & Final are MC w/ a few short answer. If you study a normal amt youll be ok.

Her lectures are really boring, and very hard to follow because she speaks in the same tone continuously and she repeats herself about 78978 times and uses way too many examples, very hard to know whats important in her lectures, and very hard to stay awake.

She is an amazing professor! Her tests can be very difficult because they actually require you think by posing hypothetical situations and requiring you to apply what you *should* have learned to them. I urge anyone to take her classes as they are incredibly informative. You will truly learn from her, but you have to put in effort.

I agree, horrible professor. She was so egotistical and I still canĂ¢€™t figure out why. Her lectures were unorganized, uninformative and article on 9/11 was lightweight. Avoid at all cost.
